We have to wait even longer for the first Duxford display next year i’m afraid! It’s being held on June 6th in rememberence of D-Day.
Yuck! Sorry, i know these guys mean well and they have done a great job in preserving this airframe for future generations, but, its a bit of a bodge-it-and-scarper by the looks of things!
Oh well, as i say, at least it is being preserved, unlike some of the now ‘relics’ we have over here.
Back to the Firefly… i always preffered the shape of the later marks to the Mk.1.
WB271 was a beautiful machine. That is the Firefly shape most familar and visually pleasing to me. AS.5 was the designation IIRC?

I meant just that trumper! I have enjoyed seeing the ‘Boss’ as the Joker in the Bearcat at Legends, but seeing the beast up close like in the picture, all 18 cylinders growling ready to take flight…
Duxford has almost become so distant and impersonal at times, almost sanitised
..Well that’s it really, just not quite like it used to be. But in the interests of safety etc…
I shall post a few more soon.
Thats amazing! Imagine popping down a local pub and finding a second world war aircraft hanging from the ceiling! 😀
I know that there is a substantial part of a twin engine (Beech 18 looking) aircraft at a bar in Bognor Regis. (don’t ask! ):p
You stand at the bar ordering your drink, and there it is, staring you in the face, quite an architectual feat in my book!
Can’t think of the name of the bar though, anyone care to admit going to that part of the world? 😀 😀
Lindsay Waltons F4U-7 Corsair at West Malling. Fond memories of this aircraft, the first corsair I ever saw. Can anyone tell me what happened to the aircraft and owner since?
The little half scale FW190 replica at Malling. Am i correct, is she up north at the moment, Scotland perhaps?
Vulcan ‘558 i believe, taking to the skies, where she belongs IMHO, at West Malling.
thanks for the appreciation guys 🙂
TFC Moose again, in the wet, must have been 1986!
More will follow soon, I have to go and have dinner first
though 😉
Last one for now – but if you like i will post more.
-The ‘Boss’ and Moose 🙂
TFC Bearcat – this sort of thing doesn’t happen anymore!!
Spencer Flack’s Spitifire XIV G-FIRE
Have these fools got nothing better to do on a saturday afternoon?
😡 😡 😡
now where’s that ignore button…oh yes…:p
Can we actually buy ‘Over Here’ as a box set or something in PAL format – i’d love to watch it again, just for the 109’s!
Anyone?
sconner, i’m sure you may have an idea?
thanks
Well surely the wright brothers got first, second, third and fourth flight! 😀
Don’t know about 5,6,7,8,9 or 10 though!
Hmm, i am sure there is someone on this forum who is at least a 100 years old that might be able to tell us?
Any takers?;)
excellent
Chris,
i can’t help you i’m afraid, but i thought i’d post just to say WOW!
That beau really is a beauty!
How long does it take you to do something like that?!!!
From the stage you are at now (research) to the finished stage as per that image?
Great work, and welcome to the Forum!
