Thanks Newforest, it certainly is a start. I have decied to e-mail BAA’s aircraft noise team at LHR to see what they can tell me…
One thing that I did not know is that they have names for each airport’s holding stacks, Gatwick has two – Willo and Timba.
Is this done to make things easier when communicating to aircraft…i.e “Join holding stack ‘Willo’ and await further instructions.” (apologises, I do not know the proper terminology used in an ATC transmission!)
Here’s the first
Wow. What a wonderful site…
It was in MAN a while back taking Tony Blair to South Africa after his usual aircraft whent tech, I think. The owner is down as PJS – Al Nassr Ltd., BM – Not sure who he is, there’s probably hundreds of Al Nassr’s in Saudi Arabia…
It seems to do charters for people in high places aswell!
Ok. Thanks for that.
Very nice indeed.
Good find there Steve!
Anyone know which channel it is going to shown on, or will most news channels be reporting it..ie, BBCNews24 or SkyNews?
I have to confess to knowing quite a bit about the merger. The idea is that FR and EI will remain SEPERATE airlines. Ryanair view them as having distinctly seperate markets, and providing different things to different people, and therefore do not want to merge EI into their own ops.
They do however, feel that there is further scope for cost cutting at EI, without eroding the product (or making it the same as FR), and that this will benefit the Irish economy overall by providing a stronger carrier with which to serve the interests of business travellers to and from the country.
The long haul element of EI will be SOLD if the acquisition was succesful, as it does not fit the core market that FR beleive EI should be strengthened in.
Is that any help?
Thanks rdc1000, that does help…all but one bit.

Surley, this is one of the major reasons for the EU’s objections…as this would have a huge impact on Ireland as a country in itself and its economy, as this would mean that people would have to connect via London or another European hub, which surely would not go down well with the ‘time is money’ business traveller or even a tourist for that matter. Not sure about anyone else, but if I was visiting Ireland from a far-away country (take USA for example!) I would much prefer a direct/non-stop service to the country that I am travelling to, rather than having the hassle of connecting via airport and possibly another plane if the first plane was not doing the second leg of the journey!
At present, I think EI has quite a strong long-haul product, although I have never flown on it, people who have used it must think it is a benefit to them when travelling?
Hope this makes sense?!
Do you not feel the same?
1. 184,000
2. KLM
3. Kangaroo Route
4. To stop birds feeding on the dropped seeds & bugs etc
🙂
Well done…although it is nearer to 185,000 for No 1.
I dont understand why he is trying to takeover Aer Lingus. Although I have never flown with them, I dont think that it would be a good thing for Aer Lingus to be taken over as that would mean lots of changes and possible job losses, which could upset alot of people!
If he was ever successful in his attempt, can anyone tell whether he would run the company seperate to FR or would he merge the two together?
Park on Cains Lane the next road down thn walk back to Myrtle, take you 5mins, easy peasy!
You could try Myrtle Avenue itself, as there is a very small (2 space) car-park right up next to the field where you will be viewing from…with you arriving fairly early, you may find a space free there, but with it being a Saturday, it would all depend on whether the local residents use these spaces to park their own cars at this time. Otherwise Cains Lane is your best bet as mentioned above!
Very nice…any idea as to what routes it will be flying on at all?
Very interesting…although I will be honest and admit that I did not know there was an airport at Gloucester!:o
Are they going to be operating their Let-410 on this route, or a different type of a/c?
According to the link provided in the above post, they [Manx2] are also looking to operate flights from Gloucester to Jersey!
Its leased from XL Airways France hence the french registraion and was previously with Star Airlines before it became XL.
That will explain the similarity then.
Do you know if they are going to re-paint it into their own livery?
Thanks for the info.
Ok. Thanks for all the advice, I will certainly hang fire before booking.
But seriously just hang on and wait for a cheap deal to come along. If you can look at flying from STN! FR have (i think) 7 daily flights to DUB! If flights are cheap it might justify travellin & flying from STN
Just a thought
Adam
Unfortunatley I live in Croydon which is about 30mins from LGW, so it would be a lot more expensive and more hassle to get to and fly from STN.
Thanks for the advice though.
I think there is only one aircraft that I would like to see flying again, but somewhat doubt that it will ever happen…Concorde? She use to fly over my house every day with tremendous grace and noise.
I have heard numerous reports that people are trying to get enough funding to be able to put at least one of the BA ones back in the sky in time for its anniversary (not sure which anniversary!)
Went to the cinema yesterday to see Captivity and have to say it is the worst film I have ever seen. Overall, the plot is very weak and the acting is awful as well…The Times film critic gave it 0/5 stars, and to be brutally honest, I agree with him. Spend your money on going to see something else in my opinion!
