Very interesting Steve, sounds great in principle…however the main issue with using an empty leg flight as was quite rightly pointed out to me fairly recently by a fellow forum member in an e-mail to me…”the main restriction with an empty leg price is that it will always be subject to any changes to the primary booking, therefore if the primary booking cancels or changes times, your empty leg is going to have to change along with this…how do you explain that to a client when you’re trying to sell it to them?”
So you should…you won’t be able to come up with any further excuses about not snapping the CO 757 at BRS because they are stopping it after 7th Nov…:(
They’ve probably pulled the plug on possible merger talks in order to see if CO/UA decide to get any closer than they already are as they are more suited to each other. As the article suggests, CO broke off merger talks two years ago, but a lot has happened since then, so maybe this time it might work out.
Wouldn’t it be great though if there was a 3-way merger involving CO, UA & US…now that would be some merger, and a pretty big airline!?:D
Thanks for all the kind comments guys.:)
Now Jon when i go to BRS and don’t get a picture of a CO 757 i get u on my back so now its my turn … Wheres the A380 :p:p
Yeah ok fair play Rob…basically the SQ A380 was late running, hung around for ages for it, but according to my sources they hadn’t even begun boarding even after an hour of its STD, so I decided to leave, hence no pictures.

And lastly, one for the animal lovers amongst us…here’s some ducks that I saw when I crossed a bridge over a small river to get to where I took the above photos!

Interesting choice of words there…”pre-reclined”…I wonder who in Spirit’s marketing department came up with that one?:D:rolleyes:
As much as it pains me to jump to the defence of Ryanair, could it not be put down to ‘weather disruption’ and/or ‘failure or delay of air traffic control facilities’ because in reality it is both of these factors that caused all these problems.
If this proves anything, it proves that the EU 261 compensation document which airlines have to abide by is in some respect flawed because it does seem to show that passengers are protected or able to claim for compensation when their travel plans are disrupted, but then it gives so many different ways in which the airlines can get out of paying out compensation…for example, the phrase “including but not limited to…”
Quite simple really, because it costs alot more to operate aircraft at the sort of times when people “want” to fly. Scheduled airlines will be able to manage it, but on the whole they will charge alot more for their tickets.
Charter airlines are much like low-cost airlines in the sense that they need to maximise the utilisation of the aircraft during the day so that it reduces the amount of time they spend on the ground sitting around doing nothing, hence why you have such early departure and late arrival times.
What do you mean “are thinking of”? They have already done it.
Has been like this for about two months.
So if thats the case, why does their website still call it ‘bmi’ then, and how come a newspaper which is published on a weekly basis only just reported it now?
Another option could be Qatar Airways via Doha…with economy fares from £435rtn, however to get this fare flights are limited to the below.
LHR – DOH on QR002, departing 21:30, arriving DOH 06:25 +1 day (Airbus A340-600, 2-4-2 config, although it goes to 2-3-2 towards the back!)
DOH – BKK on QR610, departing 08:00 +1 day, arriving 19:00 +1 day (Boeing 777-300ER, 3-3-3 config, although Rows 17 & 43 are 2-3-2!)
BKK – DOH on QR613, departing 09:15, arriving DOH 12:15 (Boeing 777-300ER, same as above)
DOH – LHR on QR017, departing 16:35, arriving LHR 22:00 (Airbus A330-300, can’t tell seating config as they appear to have so many different ones for this aircraft type!)
Interestingly, paying just an additional £36 opens up a few more flight time options, but I’ll leave you to see for yourself!
Also, the travel dates I put in to get the above results were 15th-21st June.
Hope this helps, PM me if I can be of any further assistance.:)
oh No!!! 🙁
They Fly alot into Filton using there Jumbo’s 🙁
Sad news indeed, even if they were a cargo-only airline.
The ramifications of this are quite bad though…not just for the employees of MK itself, but I suspect that it puts additional pressure on Kent International Airport (Manston) as that is where the majority of the cargo that they carried was flown into, and especially seeing as MSE doesn’t have much in the way of scheduled passenger flights to fall back on apart from a summer seasonal Flybe flight to EDI from 27th May – 30th Oct and a couple of other charters, it will probably hit them quite badly as well.
Also, it will hit Freight Feeder Aircraft Corporation (FFAC), who if you remember a while ago MK ordered up to 10 of the FF-5000 twin turbo-prop aircraft.http://www.aerospace-technology.com/projects/ff/ff4.html
When it comes to travelling to somewhere like the USA, there are just so many different options to choose from it really is a case of looking at all of them and making a decision for yourself.
I do have two questions for you…
1. What matters to you most, the type of aircraft you fly on or how much you pay?
2. Do you want to fly direct, or would you mind connecting via somewhere?
(The reason I ask Q2 is because if your answer to Q1 is “the type of aircraft you fly on”, then why not look to fly to MIA on CO, DL, UA or US via their hubs because that way you’ll get to travel on several different types of aircraft, and you may also find it a bit cheaper than flying direct…the trade-off being that you have to connect, which means you’ll have to pick your luggage up at first point of arrival in the USA!)
Also, just for your info, I believe that VS currently operate a 747 on their LHR-MIA flights, so it really depends on when exactly it is that you want to go as to what type of aircraft it will be.
PM me if you want any further help.;)
I guess you’re clearly forgetting about Continental’s daily service to Newark from Birmingham? ;)…there’s an alternative to LHR not far up the road!! If you’d like to avoid the ‘hassle’ of LHR……
Of course I hadnt forgot about BHX, but seeing as LHR has far more services it would be the obvious choice for people.
And the flight from BHX a few weeks ago was canx and so they had to bus everyone down to LHR, so not such a good option if you want to avoid the hassle.
That’s such a shame…as CO are the only transatlantic link that BRS has.
I thought that BRS was one of their most popular regional routes to/from the UK?
Bet that will be annoying for the locals as it now means they will have to travel along the M4 in order to get to LHR.
I would suspect you are right that the 757 will probably be transferred over to LHR.
Looks very nice indeed, particularly like the seat #’s on the headrests…!
