Whilst I am sympathetic towards the crew’s grievances, I do think that now is not the best time to go on strike. Perhaps if they chose to do it for 12 days from 2nd Jan as that would still cause major disruption, but just lessen the impact on the travelling public.
Oh dear, this has brought back memories of something that happened to me a while back…was in a branch of W H Smiths at a train station, innocently flicking through a magazine, when a guy came up next to me with a big sports bag, he bent down, opened the bag and cleared a pile of magazines off the shelf (not in view of the staff, mind!) and put them into his bag. He then stood up and was going to leave, but as he did, he turned to me and whispered “Tell anyone, and I’ll kill you!”…I was too scared, so I kept stum and let him walk out without saying anything!:(:o
Well done to you though for doing the right thing.:)

As crazy as it may sound, I actually like the idea.
I think its an innovative use of the space, and certainly makes a change from something normal like another skyscraper/tower or even housing. Secondly, it could be a turned into a great tourist attraction, especially if they built a visitor centre and hotel complex on the top (ok, thats my imagination running a tad wild there!…:))

I came across this cheerful little Ryanair ditty on You Tube today…:D
That’s the funniest thing I’ve seen on YouTube for a long time, excellent!:)
Because they can be the cheapest operator (even after all fees) that takes a passenger the most convenient route from their origin to their destination.
So are you suggesting that you would choose to fly Ryanair over any other airline simply because they fly the most convenient route? And would you continue to fly with them on the same route irrespective of the price and no matter how many new charges are/were introduced, and also how much these charges are increased by…?
I almost find it annoying that people have completely blacklisted them because of their fee structure.
I think that this is because the airline is seen to be doing things in an underhand way…the £5 credit/debit card (sorry “administration” fee!), for example, this costs Ryanair less than £1 to physically process, so they are charging passengers so much because they know they have to claw back the money they loose from selling so many of their seats so cheaply (at “below cost” prices!)…?
There must be at least one free method of paying on all fares….
Is there a law, policy or rule that states this though, Josh?
And there lays the problem. Sorry but you shouldn’t be able to do all those flights for that price – it is way below real cost…This is part of what’s damaging the industry…
I agree Andy.
So perhaps APD should be changed to reflect this…in the sense that people should be made to pay more for the shorter flights that they take more regularly in order to cover the “true” cost of flying that particular route?
Yep, I guess you’ve just started working with a handling agency!
Strangely enough I’ve worked with this company and done the self-service/CUSS machines for the airline I represent for almost 2 years, but in the past few days the machines have really been winding me up…lol! The problem is that the airline does not own the machines, they are owned by the airport, so it is their responsibility to get them fixed, and even when they do they work properly for a few days and then we begin to experience problems again.
Floorwalking is a crappy job, but the airlines insist on it.
Don’t get me wrong, I love floor-walking, but it just irritates me when the machines that are supposed to help speed things up at check-in can’t/don’t/won’t work and end up causing unnecessary hassle/stress for our passengers, who then decide to take it out on me!
As the passenger approaches, just kindly ask if they’ve checked in yet – harmless enough and not unreasonable. If yes then you can direct them to the correct check in desk (as all pax are magnetically drawn to the business desk !).
Thats what I do already, and I totally agree with you about passengers being magnetically drawn to the business desk, thats so true!
I like the sound of you, you sound like you have some passion and put yourself in the passengers shoes 😀
Thanks, yes I do have a lot of enthusiasm and passion for the job I do because at the end of the day I like helping people, and it gives me great satisfaction in knowing that I have be able to assist someone, which in turn motivates me even more to provide the same consistent level of service for all the passengers I meet.
Seems like another Ryanair tax on their terminally stupid punters to me! :diablo:
Andy
…
Thanks for that insult, Andy.
Paul
Hate to say it Andy, but as much as I do agree with you on most of your postings about Ryanair, that is/was a tad harsh!
That said I found the lack of decent places to eat (unless you want to re-mortgage) in T3 to be irritating.
And also, when I last flew from T3 back in October to YYZ on Air Canada, there was only one lot of toilets, so make sure you leave enough time as when I went there was quite a long queue…even for the Mens, which would mean the womens will probably be even longer!
Might seem strange but I use Safari on my laptop, which is not a Mac…!
Which prompts a question from me…
How can I set Safari to be my main browser when opening links?
Whenever I click on a link, it always opens but uses Internet Explorer and its rather annoying having both up at the same time.
Anyone able to help?:)

Hi A330-300,
I work for a ground handling company at LHR but I think most of our recruitment is now outsourced to a number of agencies as its easier/cheaper to get seasonal/temporary staff this way. I’ll make some enquiries when I am next in work (sadly not until Tues…:)!), and I’ll PM you with any details that I can get.
i am flying Virgin Atlantic to ERW in December
I assume you mean EWR…?
What time are you flying; be sure it is not a Continental flight with a VS flight no. as we have had a lot of passengers making that mistake recently?
LMAO, worked for me Steve!:D
…with reports Tom Cruise will play the 58-year-old in a move based on the landing.
Oh dear…:D:diablo:
