Does passing through customs not require you to have your baggage with you?

No, if/when you check-in at LHR, we put special ‘in-transit’ tags on the baggage, so that when the aircraft arrives in IAH, they are taken straight from one aircraft to another.

It only works for passengers travelling from one international country to another, and simply transiting through. If you are travelling anywhere else within the US, you still have to pick up your baggage and pass through customs as normal.;)

IAH, Houston, CO 2832, Continental Airlines, 2:40 PM, ERJ

This is probably the best option because your baggage will get automatically transferred to its final destination, so you would not have to pick it up in IAH, thus saving some time when connecting. That said, you still have to pass through US immigration/customs, which I do not know how long this would take as I have never been through IAH myself, but we usually recommend an hour and a half.

PM me if you want to know more; I might even be able to find you a cheap-ish fare if you can give me some dates to play with!;)

And BA made what profit this year ?

Exactly my point Ren Frew, MoL would have far more fun ripping into BA about their current financial crisis and continue to bleat on about pax deciding to move over to FR because they are cheaper, but he doesnt really say/do anything about EZY as they are in the same league (in the sense that they are both LCC’s!).

Thanks for the info Cloud 9. This must be a first for Jet 2 at LHR!

Indeed, I believe it is…shame its so dark outside now, otherwise I would have been tempted to have gone up there to get a photo of it!

    Profit is a Profit,

Indeed your right, and its very good to see an airline making a profit given the circumstances and state of the economy at this time.

Surprised MOL hasnt said anything yet :diablo:

He doesnt really usually get involved with stuff concerning EZY as they are sort of in the same league…he tends to go after the big fry such as BA!:D

Its BD9341. Seems strange to charter to LHR. I didn’t think that BD would be able to get any extra slots for a one off charter.

Right, I have just managed to find out from a source that its actually a Jet2 Boeing 757 thats positioning down to LHR in order to operate a flight to Saudi Arabia, assume its operating the LHR-Saudi sector on behalf of BD, hence why the BD flight no. on the LBA-LHR sector too.;)

I assume its a positioning flight but it doesn’t seem to carry a positioning flight code.

Could be a private charter, especially if it has a flight no. BD7000 – BD8999?

Can anyone shed some light on the problems the American 767 suffered today. Departed at 10.30am and came back roughly 2 hours later missing some of the engine housing on the port side. Emergency services followed her back to the stand at Terminal 3.

Can’t shed any light on what happened, but I have seen an American 767 parked up on a remote stand at LHR for the last few days too…

Just to throw my hat into the ring…I donated 50p to the Poppy Appeal this year.

Ok, so some may think that that is a relatively small amount of money, however, it was all the ‘silver’ change I had on me at the time I got my poppy.

Also, if you consider for a moment that in previous years I only ever put 20p into the tins as I used to think “Its only a poppy!”, however this year I felt that it was for a more deserving cause because of the current events in Afghanistan and the upper most respect that I have for the people that are out there giving their lives to help save/protect ours…remember, its not just about the people that fought for us in the previous World Wars, its all about everyone that has, and are currently, serving their country!

As for the stealing of the poppy-tins…its a despicable crime, and is important that it is brought to the attention of people because if I had put my 50p donation into a tin that was subsequently stolen, I would be most upset as it would not be going to the cause that I had intended it to go to…if I had wanted to give my 50p to some scumbag low-life I would have done so directly, but I didn’t and wouldn’t as they do not deserve it.

Lets hope these people are caught and then made to pay back the money they stole (with interest!) and then they should be made to do some sort of service, such as giving money over to family, friends and relatives of those people that have lost someone as a result of a death on the battlefield!

How does 17500 diamond club miles and £200 sound? Yea that’s more like it.

    Ooooo…that does sound good.

I currently have 14,057 Diamond Club miles (soon to be even more if they ever get round to crediting the miles of my AC flights to/from YYZ a month ago; still not happend:mad:!), so it wont be long before I will be able to redeem my miles to do something like that!?

Don’t think I want to fork out extra for LCY…

You should still consider it as a possible option though as you can easily get the Docklands Light Railway from LCY to Bank station, change onto the Circle Line and then go straight to Shepherd’s Bush station from there. And to make things even easier, you’d only need the one train ticket (a Travelcard) to get you there!

    Ned’s Atomic Dustbin

    Who…?

    Shepherds Bush Empire

I’ve been to SBE many times and must say its a fantastic venue, probably my favourite venue in London for music gigs!:)

So here’s a question…. If a airline policy states you can only fly upto 35th week of pregnancy, would you be liable for some costs or fined if you were 39 weeks gone and the plane had to divert due to an “Early Arrival” ??

    Rick

According to some quick research I done…

Most airlines are happy to carry pregnant women up to 26 or 27 weeks pregnant. After that, when the risk of going into labour increases, they may require a letter from your doctor stating you are fit to travel and confirming your due date.

Each airline has its own set of rules and a cut off point, so it’s important you tell your booking agent that you are pregnant and how far along you are. They will be able to make sure your chosen airline will allow you to fly.

If you are booking online, check the airline’s website, as most mention pregnancy. Read more about flying when you’re pregnant.

    http://www.babycentre.co.uk/pregnancy/travel/airlinerulestravelinsurance/

I also discovered that although airlines have these rules/procedures in place, they have been known to simply take the word of the passenger at the time they check-in (some passengers don’t even tell the airline at all!).

So, if a passenger is beyond the stated date that she is able to safely fly and ends up going into labour and having the baby during the flight, then I cannot see a reason why the airline could/should not at least ask her to pay for the costs incurred of diverting the aircraft, as she in theory should not be travelling but made the conscious decision to get onboard, however, that is just my opinion.

Nice to get free flights for life though.;)

Absolutely agree BumbleBee, a hero indeed and such a shame he tragically gave his own life in order to save those onboard! Thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues.:(
