He’s doing what ? 😮
On top of travelling the world, r/c planes, a PPL and… er… fish management ?
How much would a Sea Harrier(FRS2) airframe cost? or just the cockpit?i recall it being about £1500 for a cockpit.
Jon,
Yes, Everett Aero will supply you with a SHAR 2 cockpit from ZD580 at £2,800 with external skin and nose damage, or £3,000K+ for an externally tidy example… ZE691 (photo’s of both below), or the GR.5 cockpit ZD350 at £4,500.
The one offered by GJD and purchased by Adrian (see this thread) was indeed £1.5K, but that’s because it was purchased as a source of parts for ZA195, and once done, it had to move on to re-coup the £ outlay.
Like i said, i dunno what the final agreed price was, but i do know what they paid for it, and suffice to say i think that had a smile rather than a frown.
Cheers…….
….all were burnt at Tollerton shortly after the pictures were taken.
And so the one at Tollerton was one of those that (literally) never got off the ground ?
The meat freighter conversion of Lincoln airframes is a whole new can of worms! When the planned Lincoln U.5 programme, to convert to old bombers to pilotless drones, was cancelled, three of the 40-odd aircraft assembled at Avro’s Langar factory were purchased on 24.9.47 with the intention of producing aircraft to carry meat between Paraguay and Peru.
They were moved to Tollerton for Field Aircraft Services to do the job.
RE376 became the prototype, and is the one photographed with a deep fuselage and fully faired-in nose, much bigger than the Lancastrian nose. This carried the Paraguayan registration ZP-CBR-97.
Although the conversion appears to have been completed, there is no evidence that it ever flew and it was sold for scrap in 9.59 at Tollerton, as were RF417/ZP-CBQ-96 and RF458/ZP-CBS-98.
So your photo Pete, must be either… RE376, RF417 or RF458.

bump-se-daisy
Very interesting photos. Note the one on the left is one of those Lincoln freighters. From what I can remember three were converted for use in Paraguay but were never delivered. I may be wrong, but am sat at work and havent got any references to hand.
Martin
Yes indeed.
Look at the thread ” Lancastrian freighter ?” which i’ll bump as well.
Cheers…
I took this from the movie Indiana Jones, can someone name this aircraft?
Sorry about the quality 😮
Try Google. Just type in Indiana Flying Wing or similar wording.
Or click here 😀

12. Best magazine article 2005.
Too many. Anything in Classic Wings is enjoyed, especially if it’s about the NZ warbird scene (which it rarely is these days…)
Second that Dave…. and i’m north of the equator !
Latest issue… Oxford on its feet & Baghdad Furies scattered around the desert… brilliant !! 😉
.
How close is “ooh so close”?
Your county, maybe 20 or so miles ?
Is the yard owner welcoming ?
Tim, i’m hundreds of miles away. You’ll just have to (Quote) “Get out there” and ask.
Please take a camera, very little money (act like your dis-interested or any price will rocket up), and cover yourself liberally in ‘Dog-off’ or similar anti-Alsation product 😀
.
Paul,
Yes, its a private collection. I’ll email you direct with chapter & verse (& photo’s) if you dont mind plz.

Just want to say that I think it’s sad that so far Ollie Holmes has been voted as the 2005 personality on this forum, Although funny, if a person who is ignorant and doesn’t seem to learn even when told several times, gets a lot of attention then what kind of satisfaction do we all get from frequenting the forum.
Ouch…. 😮
