Did i read this statement correctly….?
… It is the few people (i am not naming names) that post short useless comments.
Anybody….?
Come on Dave fess up…the Harriers a smokescreen isnt it…. 😉
Your not insinuating it was ~my~ kitbag ? 😮 😉
Isn’t there a rumour that at least 1 ‘libertated’ Fury has already found it’s way back to a UK MOD establishment ‘somewhere in England’… 😉
I’m afraid the said article isn’t chapter & verse on what is what or went where.
I think its common knowledge that at least one whole airframe was sneaked back in someone’s kit bag. I’ve certainly read it in FP & Aeroplane before now, but i guess we’ll have to wait a few more years for the dust to settle ?
.
Yes, there is an article in the latest issue of ‘Classic Wings Downunder’ on just this very subject.
I can scan it for you or they should have something under ‘cuurent issue’ on their WEBSITE .
Cheers…….
Dave T…which part of this thread needs moderating my dear? 🙂

……., I got it for 32.99………….even for a book as relatively rare as this one seems to be, 65 smackers is allot.
Yikes… 😮 maybe time to dig mine out & flog it then ? 🙂

I wasnt aware that there are two whitley projects. !
I’m not aware there is. Anybody know otherwise ?
There’s the parts held at MAM Coventry (does that constitute a project ?) and Elliot Smock’s epic crusade.
Click here THE WHITLEY PROJECT for details.
If anybody is aware of another project, we at the Whitley Project Yahoo discussion group would like to hear from you please .

Think this was a complete airframe as remember seeing it along with two Piston Provosts at St Merryn when I initially went to see the Spitfire rebuild. Firefly from what I can remember was sold at a later Duxford auction and went to the States.
Whilst there that day I asked for a flight in the Spitfire when completed and was told that it would be £200 for 20 minutes. After that I cut grass, painted walls, washed cars, only to find when had the money that the aeroplane had relocated to Goodwood. Not having the means of getting there, I spent the money on my first stereo. That lasted a little longer than 20 minutes much to the dismay of my parents!!

Maybe, but there was also some ex-Failsworth cockpits which apparently were sold onward to the states for the Griffons to be used in powerboats or something.
Next time you view the video of OU-V’s rebuild at St.Merryn, you should just spot a frame or two with them in the background.
I’m sure Mr Firefly… HMS.Vulture will give chapter & verse next time he drops by here….

Hope there was an underwear shop nearby 😮
