Could you not go back with a camera please ?
(A pictures a thousand words and all that…….)
I’ve still got pictures (somewhere) from when i collected it from the 007 stage at Pinewood still in its film all white scheme as ‘black 10’
N-202 was also in ‘Man with the Golden gun’.
It was the ‘Mig’ being winched aboard the upturned Queen Mary in Hong Kong harbour.
If anybody’s interested, i just found some old photo’s, of Hawker (Dutch) Hunter F.6 N-202 before & after filming of Octopussy.
First photo was taken at Northolt a week before shooting began. As you can see, a dummy airframe has been attached to make it look Mig-23 ‘ish.
Second photo is late 1980’s in open store at Pinewood, still with seat and dummy nosecone.
Last two photo’s were taken on the day of collection (note the 007 stage in the background). Myself and Andy (HMS Vulture) blagged a quick tour inside where the TGV mock-up was nearly complete for ‘Mission Impossible’, while scattered around other stages were Gerry Anderson’s ‘Space Precinct’ series.
Aside from small parts, we couldn’t find any other airframes or cockpits there.
.
Very interesting.
I’m sure the Canberra nose perspex will be sought after.
Do you have any photo’s of the items ?
.
Probably Photoshopped.
Nah… really ?
Well i never knew that
You mean these aren’t real either …….. :diablo:
Maybe a silly question, what are the victory marks supposed to mean? I mean the yellow “star trek enterprises” with a red cross over it.
Not sure. There were 2 kills marks on one side, but only one on the other side.
Could be connection between Klingons and the Wasp’s deck handling attributes ?
Because they raise money for charity by doing this. You pay a small amount to have a go at guessing the correct serial. Of course for us enthusiasts, the cat is already out of the bag, but for the general public it’s a game.
Ah… i see.
The geezer standing like a lemon with a bucket did ask someone if they wanted to join a raffle for a helicopter flight.
Then i overheard someone asked a question about the Wasp to be greeted with the lame reply…. “dunno mate, i only stand ‘ere and help out”
Save the Shack’
Can i beg your attention forumites & Vulcanologists please ?
Can those interested parties who said they would, but are now very quite, help some of us save Shackelton nose WL756.
Could we not at least try and save another from impending doom ?
In October 2001 & June 2002, a Wasp (XT788 – but marked as XT78? – G-BMIR) was displayed in the main shopping area at Bexleyheath, owned by Xray Tango Helicopter Club, its home is at Dunkeswell, if this is the same aircraft.
Spotted today (and most of this week) not far from it’s home, at Morrisons (ex-Safeway) store Tiverton, Devon…. Wasp XT788.
Wonder why its marked ‘XT78?’
Yep, seen ’em
They’ve been on several times now, but i guess nobody wants those particular items ?
Thanx for the heads up though 😀
Cheers…….
Does anyone know how intact the interior is of the victor nose section that is in the soplata collection? I do know that this aircraft crashed at the hamilton airshow after running short of fuel but I was curious wether or not this is a stripped out hulk.?
Peter,
I was just stooging around a modelling website, where one guy had posted photo’s of his 1987 visit to Soplata’s.
Amongst the photo’s (including recently rebuilt B-25 ‘Wild Cargo’), was this pic’ of the Victor cockpit and what appears to be a section of fuselage of same beside it………
.
I’m sure i read somewhere the filming was done in Czech republic or similar, and they found an eastern bloc aircraft of similar appearance for the external shots and CGI for the take off scenes.
Not sure if the cockpit shots were filmed at Duxford though. Anybody know more….?
.
In the end ‘the clique’ formed it’s own forum and b*ggered off–probably for the best in my honest.
Andy
I wish those who keep harping on about having got a new place would either just go, or stop banging on about it at every possible opportunity.
you could bring a boxing ring along, and see if people are as brave in real life as they are on here!
Oh thats just great, more helpful (!) comments.
.
Current location ?
And any photo’s of it could help….?
And you could try the good folks (and the DC-3 forum) at DC-3.com
😀
.
Sorry AG,
you’re right, the latest victim of Ollie Holmes.Once upon a time, long, long ago.
This forum was populated with people that actually knew something about aviation. What halcyon days they were…
Whatever happened???
WEVE ALL GONE OVER TO PLANE TALK 😀
SEE YOU THERE ?
.
Congratulations to Flood for stopping the Thread and shame on the other two moderators who let it continue and even encouraged it!!
I believe i did ask very early on in that thread for a moderator. The response was (quote) “What needs moderating ?”
Although my plea was not so much to stop it there & then, but i had in mind that seeing it was an ‘Ollie Thread’ the potential to get out of hand was great, and sure enough, look what happened…….. 😮
It seems that any posts by Ollie, has us regular friends & forumites turning on each other like a pack of wolves.
So in answer to Flood’s comments about not stepping in for spelling mishtakes, that is fair comment & justified, but when it comes to people bickering, arguing etc…. then that is the time for ‘moderation’ i believe.
Perhaps some sort of vetting procedure ?
Any thoughts folks……..?
