Got it !
Thank You !! ๐
.
FLY.BUY, if you’d like higher resolution scans of the panel pictures to help with restoration, then feel free to PM me and I’ll do some for you.
Cheers…Mark
Me too please Mark !?! ๐
.
I’ve still got the forward fuselage mock-up of the Aussie/Westland contender the A-20 Wamira II, if anybodys remotely interested ?
But as the PC-9, Firecracker and Tucano were already ‘proper’ airframes by then, the modified Wamira (tandem seating configuration) didn’t really stand a chance of a contract.
Although it was displayed on Westlands stand at Farnboro’ 84 ๐
.
Those scans were kindly provided by a menber , so I post it again.
Cheers,Olivier
Do you have the ‘Key to item’ list/s also please ?
.
DaveT,
Try contacting them with details of what’s needed to update your entry and you should find them v receptive.
Yep done that.
I also noticed that the Spitfire RR232 featured in Flypast is missing, along with the Sea Vixen in Sth Devon, the SHAR & Buccanear in Topsham, the collection of retired & flying Austers at Eggesford……(and on and on) :diablo:
Lets hope their open to constructive comments ?
Cheers……..
Crikey, me too ๐ฎ
Except there are errors in my listing and several others throughout Devon also. (eg: Hunter T.7 PH-NLH cockpit is back in Holland).
Looking at the way its done, i think its merely and on line version of Wrecks & Relics, warts & all.
Cheers……..
.
..hummm, i’ve often wondered if all the bits lying around, such as Brooklands nose, and Pendine wings could be gathered together for a third preserved airframe.
Although following on from the ‘scattered airframes’ thread, if nobody can do it for a Wellington, Halifax etc… then little chance i fear !! ๐
.
……..But because I am a soft touch here are the shots in question
Regards

WoW ๐ฎ , great pics.
Thanks John
Yes that is correct, but several other hulks were recovered which were in much worse condition than Big Nig for parts sources IIRC.
Dave
Dave,
Agreed ๐
It would be nice if someone involved in the restorations actually had photos/inventory of what was what, and just happened to be a forumite.
John P…. i’ve tried to find your photo’s of ‘Big Nig’ again, but its very confusing in your albums.
For example, clicking on ‘A-20’ just shows wartime photo’s, while clicking on ‘A-20 restorations’ just shows wing parts, and i cant find it again wading through the Wangarratta photos. Help ?
Prity ironic ‘Big Nig’ was stripped to finish the other restorations and now is looking for those exact same parts to complete it …forward thinking?….hmmmmm.
Dave
Dave,
Dont forget that ‘Big Nig’ was discovered/wreckovered well ~after~ the other restorations had commenced.
Given that the manpower & location problems for the whole project cast a shadow over the whole thing anyway at the start, if it were you who had struggled to get to the point they had reached, would you start all over ?
And if so, what would become of the partially completed A-20’s ?
As it stands, the restored aircraft look fantastic, the UK project gets a major boost (and the UK gets a Boston, hurrah !) with the fuselage of 43-9628, and Murray & team will work their magic on ‘Big Nig’, upshot of which, ‘Big Nig’ will become a genuine airworthy warbird and representative of the breed.
(Que: intense debate on flying aircraft v museum display… eek ๐ฎ )
Thanks for the A-20 updates John.
Please let us know the progress of ‘Big Nig’ or perhaps you could post the photo’s themselves here instead of the link to the album/s ?
Cheers….
Is that grey an operational scheme? Not being too up on F-111 types, I don’t know, but it looks a bit more interesting than the usual green/brown schemes that most seem to be preserved in.
The Dept of Defence did what the MOD are good at, they upgraded the F-111’s with decent computers & avionics, together with overhauls & repaints (in grey) costing $$$$$ ๐ฎ
Shortly after, the fleet was retired to the Boneyard, although the Aussies know a bargain when they see one, a purchased more (F-111G) plus spares packages for years to come. ๐
.
John,
I think we can assume their is enough interest, so please post away !!
.
Oh lordy, that last one is rare !!
It sure looks like a Blackburne Thrush, in which case the name ‘Thrush’ should be stamped somewhere.
This info’ from BAPC Aero-engines list:
Make: BLACKBURNE
Name: Thrush
Date: 1924
HP: 38hp
Capacity: 1.5lt

– I havenโt, for example, got a decent, comprehensive book on the Harrier or the Me 262. On this latter there seems to be an abundance of titles and I canโt buy them all.
Roger Smith.
Roger,
For Harrier, may i suggest ‘The Harrier Story’ and ‘Harrier-The Vertical Reality’ (plus the Crowood title to a lesser extent).
As for the Me262, certainly Vol’s 1-4 of the series by Classic Publications, one volume of which i note in the ‘bargain books’ (eg: cheap) section of Midland Counties catalogue.
Cheers…. ๐
