Is this not the one that has gone to GJD at Farnborough for the FAST museum. But what has happened to the spares ship (ZH807?) that they also acquired and were selling the nose from a few weeks ago?

    It is indeed.

Last i heard a guy called Adrian had purchased ZH807, but that was the only info’ i was privvy to.

I notice the AV-8B cockpit for £950 is also deleted from GJD’s sales page.

As for the Scottish T.4 ‘XW272’ – having spoken at length to her former owners – I am far from convinced that she is anything other than a engineering template for the Indian Navy T series modifications – it’s easy to link her with XW272 because it was on the dump at Dunsfold – however the machine in Scotland didn’t show any signs of being on the dump when purchased from Dunsfold.

    Dave,

Indeed i concur, but Indian Navy development was not its sole usage.

We believe it was built at the time (or before) T2 production (eg: early seventies). Because it is ‘plumbed’, my Dunsfold contact is certain that it was used merely for fitment trials for wiring, pipes etc…

In latter years it was indeed used for T60 work (note the bulge on the underside), and yet the center/side consoles fitted was from an FRS.2, so i guess they used it for any trial ?

A more appropriate console layout has been fitted and the SHAR2 example passed to a more appropriate airframe.

A lack of a 41H number doesn’t help, unlike the P1127 cockpit in Lynchburg, Virginia, USA, which does have a 41H number which precedes XP831…!!

Again we think this was another ‘test-shell’ or ‘boiler-plate’ example, but it has some curious attachments on the side though (pic below)……

Another for your list, but I don’t have the serial. There’s a P.1127 (RAF) at RAF Wittering – it’s the one they used to lower from the ceiling at the Royal Tournament.

That must be the ‘plastic pig’ in which case its GR1 XV279.

And dont forget GR1 nose XV280 at RNAS Yeovilton recently retired from duties as a crash exercise trainer….

What about my ol’ XV759 (privately owned Hitchin, Herts)?

What about the unflown spare (and restored) noses (in Welshpool, Hitchin and Catford) ?

What about the P1127 nose that pre-dates XP831 under restoration in USA ?

Who said Gatwick own XW268 ? (its promised to them, but still slowly rotting to death with no attempt to remove it)

Stewarts XW265 which lodges at Leuchars is a nose section only.

Also…. GR3 nose XW923 ‘owned’ by RAF Wittering.

And… GR3 XV760 nose section (airframe used in composite rebuild of FAAM’s FRS.1 ‘XZ493’ ) privately owned, Dunsfold (vicinity of)

    Some pic’s attached….

There was one on ebay (in the US) earlier this year
    Roger Smith.

Indeed, it was XS694 formerly owned by Tom Reilly at Kissimee, but sold to a paintball site.

Not sure what happened after it failed to sell at auction….

I thought I read somewhere that there was one preserved in Belize?? Any info would be welcome!

    ZD668 is preserved in Belize.

ZA195 never made it to Cronifer. There was a post & photos on this forum with it ‘resting’ at Parkhouse Avaition, but has since been acquired by GJD for Neil Hallett/Farnborough.

May i suggest you read last Decembers (Harrier) issue of Flypast with comprehensive (and yet still incorrect) survivors listing, although T-birds, P1127’s and 2nd generation Harriers weren’t included 🙁

XW763 is a nose section privately owned in Leicestershire. The same guy also owns XV810 stored at Bruntinthorpe.

Anyone spot the crunched superchipmunk on ebay
Its an old item so you need to be logged in to see it.

Looks like one heavy landing. Did he flair gently at around 300ft and let it sink gently into the tarmac?

    Yes Bruce won it 🙁

What plans Bruce ? You must’av put a big proxy on it ?

    Sincerely yours….

sad to see but leaves me wanting more….!
Why do they not let these airframes become stripped of spares before torching them? That maddens me to no end. Think of the cockpit collectors etc that need canopys or fittings. Oh well well torch it instead!

DONT PANIC…. that ‘arrier has been…erm (cough) visited 😉

Alec Harvey Bailey was a senior service engineer for Rolls Royce during the war years. He also headed the service dept., on many RR documents you will find his title, AHB. A well respected man who is no longer with us.
    Caveat emptor!

Perhaps in this case, you should be saying ” Caveat venditor ” then ? 😉
