Dave,
Could you see if there are any plans for the Hunter GA11 WV382?
Yeh i can answer that straight away… there are ~no~ plans to break up the collection yet.
As far as the Venom goes, the pod should still be stored in one of the hangers elsewhere on site due to our lovely weather. The workshops on site only contain the Chipmunk and Meteor nose section.
Cheers…….
Not quite. XF321 is owned by Mick Jennings. .
Er…. are you sure about this Mark ?
As this aircraft has just been listed by Phoenix on eBay with a start price of £3,500.
Did Mick not want it then ?????
Thanks Dave T.
Perhaps there may be hope for some of them then.
Couple more photo’s anyway.
I will be popping up shortly to retrieve a piece of one of my cockpits. Any message for the owners or any info’ you require ? I can but ask….
[QUOTE=TMN]Does anyone know what is happening with the collection of aircraft there ? [QUOTE]
Yes, Stewart Holder has become disillusioned with the preservation scene and is taking a sabatical at present, however his father (who co-owns various airframes etc) does not wish to dispose or break up the collection just yet, hence its currently in limbo and closed to the public until further notice.
The Shack and (i think) Whirlwind are owned by the land owners, while the Meteor, Dove plus possibly others (?) are owned by other third parties but kept within the compound.
Hope this helps ?
Ian Allan series
Would anybody happen to have a full listing of types covered by the ‘…At War’ series ?
Yes, very good i think, especially the B-17 one.
It was THE book i used to borrow from the library most often when i was in short trousers. Very good read.
Did you get the originals, or the reprint versions in one book (red cover) ?
Their should be another Hunter out of Brunty soon, poor old T.7A XF321 due for the scrap man any day now.
Explain please Nigel ?
This a/c was purchased by Barry Pearson (from Yeovilton if i recall ?) and moved to Exeter with Barry Pover.
Why did it go to Brunty ? And why scrap it instead of selling it ?
Any news Dave?
Yes and No… you might wanna PM me please
Forgive my ignorance, but i take it this isn’t FM118 from the Shilo ranges ?
And if not, whats the current status on FM118 ? W&R19 still has it being in storage in Canada, but is that correct ?
….but lets all be honest and ask ourselves have we ever bought anything that seemed a good idea at the time because your heart ruled your head,it’s human nature…..
Hell yeh, agree with that sentiment !! 😀 😀
Turrets
If i recall correctly, they briefly showed the upper turret with both guns, but when lifting the rear fuselage the bottom was missing. Was that underside turret located ?
Well done !
Nick,
Yes indeed very laudable on what has been achieved.
Now the program has been aired, your answers have started to lift the vail of ‘secrecy’ that appeared to exist beforehand.
Can you/they…. now allow photo’s of during & after the recovery ?
Very good but…. after 72hrs digging they left it there ?
Boomers
Thanks James…
There is an Aussie company called Domandra who produce a video/DVD using wartime footage plus the Zuccoli restoration, but there website seems u/s.
Can anyone down-under help ?
Boomerang info anyone ?
Different CAC model i know, but can any forumites down-under point me in the direction of Boomerang material ?
Specifically, has there ever been a DVD release of the aircraft in action, and/or the airworthy restoration efforts.
Or perhaps a book similar to ‘The Whole Nine Yards’ which details the P-40 restoration ?
Cheers…….
