I also took two poor quality shots! – Snap! I was on the A171 (I think) on my way to the A1.

I attended the BBMF flypast in 2000 and the airshow on 1980 (aged 5). Will certainly attend on August 13th!

    Thanks

Thanks very much for all your comments except for Lord Ullswater. It looks as if Halton – who I think designed the Goblin asked for the engine back from Malcolm Campbell because he wasn’t happy with him using it!

I think in the process of polishing it I have rubbed off what was left of the chrome and gone through to the brass – I suppose it is possible to get things re-chromed.

I have since discovered this picture showing a similar plate mounted in position.

Is there any way of saving this video to disk?

The question has to be raised – what might RJ Mitchell have designed had he not passed away soon after designing the Spitfire? – wasn’t he designing some sort of heavy bomber at the time?

Two spitfires flew with the Lancaster down the Mall over the coffin of HM The Queen Mother after her funeral at Westminster Abbey. For details of Trooping the Colour try http://www.royal.gov.uk (sorry not sure how to post a link yet)

This certainly looks like a mighty machine – as you point out – in need of a rather major facelift! Does anyone have a pic of this aeroplane in flight?

    Hi

Sorry to hi-jack your thread Aileron Roll – I’m a brand new member too! I’ve been reading this forum for ages but only now have I screwed up the courage to actually join!

How do you get a picture under your name?

    Am I being really thick?
