All this talk of radars and ECM, and move – counter move, got me thinking that the smart play (and getting smarter and smarter by the day) is to take a page from the submarine community and “go passive”. IRST systems are the way to go for stealthy aircraft going forward IMHO providing that they can do a good enough job to replace radar emissions in most air combat scenarios.

How close are IRST systems, like PIRATE system on Typhoon for example, to supplant the need to emit tons of radiation that radars usually do yet still get the job done?

    Yes..

But this was always going to be the next stage once Americans were allowed to fly drones and kill Pakistanis in Pakistan.

The same Pakistanis that are killing NATO soldiers and innocent civilians in Afghanistan, and killing innocent Pakistanis in countless acts of terror against their own people.

Nobody is absolutely right in this. The Americans have made many mistakes as have the Pakistanis. Anyone who does not see that is delusional. Thee is lots of blame to go around.

Just to give you some perspective, St. John’s Newfoundland is closer to London England than it is to Winnipeg Manitoba.

You think Pakistani’s dont know how long Americans will last as their friends? Maybe you have forgotten the last 30 year history between the 2 countries. They have been on the receiving end far too many times. This time they are taking US on a wild goose chase, for a change.

And I am sure that Americans will remember the following

    • Bin Laden living in a military town for years with the likely tacit approval and assistance of elements of the Pakistani military and ISI
    • Harboring and covertly supporting the Taliban in a conflict that has killed thousands of American and NATO troops in Afghanistan.
    • Letting China have covert access to American military equipment (not talking about the stealth helo per se) given to Pakistan.
    • Proliferating nuclear weapons technology to countries like Iran, Libya and North Korea.

To me it looks like both countries to use your phrase have been “on the receiving end” from one another.

The difference is one nation is not supplying the other with billions in military and civilian aid.

…Tell me this is what you said in your many posts, has it not be repeated over the years by many posters (hope u understand the question)?

Repetition of a particular point, or “fact”, or opinion does not in of itself make it any more right or any more wrong.

And as far as your opinion goes you are more than entitled to it.

“Memo to Pakistan”. Sending memo to wrong people. I think your mouthing is not gonna heard by many people. 😀

    mouthing???

with all due respect I am not “mouthing” anything other than the opinion of a bystander with no stake in the fight so to speak.

If anyone is “mouthing” it is you when all you can do is insult those that disagree with your point of view rather than trying to engage them in a forthright discussion.
