The septics don’t always get it wrong. The US version of The Office is FAR superior to the original purely from not having that talentless asshole Ricky Gervais in it..

Please excuse my ignorance on aircraft painting, but why is white masking tape harder to work with?

The white stuff is bargain basement cheap crap, it sticks like **** to a blanket & is a royal PITA to remove if you leave it on for more than a day or so. The blue & green variety uses different glue & can be peeled off without drama even months later. We only use the white stuff to tape masking paper to itself or to plastic sheeting, never used in contact with the whatever is being painted.
The difference is cost is minimal, but the amount of grief prevented by using blue or green makes for happy gunslingers.:)

& for sharply defined edges, use 1/4 lining tape (blue, plastic)for lay out, then lay down the masking paper with blue or green tape over that. I usually use the green masking tape & only ever use 3M products.

& never use newspaper, the ink transfers.. cheap source of quality masking paper are rolls of butcher paper, 750ft roll of 18in wide is about $15 here. Use that right next to what is being painted (or the blue shiny masking paper) & use the cheap paper or plastic sheeting to fill the big areas (such as covering wings while you paint the fuselage etc)… & use the right plastic to stop the dry paint from flaking off & sticking to your new paint job.

I’m not a biker myself but it’s nice to see pics of everyone’s previous classic steeds on here.

Sold this one to a friend who promptly put this ugly seat on it…
It’s a ’76 KZ900_A4 with a ’75 Z1B paint job on it..

& here are 3 others I used to have. L to R: ’75 Z1-B, ’78 KZ1000-A2 & another ’76 KZ900-A4. The serial # on this one was only 27 from the one above.

Apparently their “specialist paint team” are the only guys who still use white masking tape… well, & the guys who did the B17 at Dx… They must both like working harder than necessary..

It doesn’t appear on my computer monitor when it was doing the Harrier impression. Might show up better on a larger monitor with higher resolution. All I see is the flash of feathers as it broke to my left.

You VERY briefly see a flash to the left between 2-3 seconds into this.. If you manage to pause it at exactly the right moment you’l see it. Concentrate on that power pole on left side & watch for the flash of feathers.

Have ya had a look here? toolbox in the last post was left somewhere a bit wet….looks ok now tho. It’s handy having to tools to sort stuff.. including sorting other tools..
