P38 drop tanks tend to sell for about $3K on Ebay, they show up quite often.
Not to detract from the object of the thread but has anyone used reclaimed material from an aircraft for any purpose other than a collection piece that came from said aircraft.
For instance melted it down and used it to for a toilet roll holder fasioned from cast from the engine. Or plate to form a brush pan out of.
Just curious as to how some material ends up.
On a related note, my main workbench was originally a WWII Hamilton Standard prop stand… I was told “Take this thing apart & throw it in the dumpster”.. which became “take this thing apart & throw it in the back of my truck”

That’l buff out 🙂
I’ve recently had a job that required me to read several US Military Standards, Mil Specs and European Parliamentary Directives.
The result of all that reading meant that this document actually made sense. 😮
Compared to the US Military, the FAA and CAA actually use English in their documents. I had to explain to the apprentice working with me, “the US Military use the language of Yoda for their documents”. With that understanding he stopped struggling with the job. 🙂
Depends on the documents, ferinstance, the workshop manuals for US Army vehicle mechanics can be understood by a 4yearold… however, if you are actually mechanically inclined, they are beyond frustrating.
Their explosives & demolition manuals are easy reading, picked up a couple at a yardsale a while back in a job lot of *stuff* 🙂
It would be foolish in the extreme to rely on uniformed opinions given on the forum with an offence of this potential severity.

Fixed it for ya 😉
(says the guy with a German 88 round sat on the mantle…)
You just have to read the articles about the rozzers evacuating everyone within 200 yards of a cop shop because someone walked in the door with a grenade to realize how bloody clueless the average flatfoot is when it comes to stuff like this…
It would look much better chromed
No it wouldn’t, you sound like one of those Harley riding Chromosexuals..
& it’s parked next to a conveyor belt!!!.. this could answer that question once & for all 😉
