They are not asking for donations specific to the winter service, simply asking for money and mentioning that the service is expensive.

    Really?

To add your name to the Winter Service Plaque, visit XH558 Winter Service Plaque and select a donation of £20 or more

For just £20, the historic bomb-bay doors of XH558, the last flying Vulcan, could swing open to reveal your name as one of the vital supporters commemorated on the Winter Service Plaque.

I have to say, their comunication skills suck..

Well, lets see.. they are asking for donations for the Winter Service…. IIRC that was what all the “end of Oct” BS was about funding & they then claimed to have enough cash to do it.. So why are they now asking for more $$$ to carry out the same work they stated they enough funds for? Where did that money go if it wasn’t spent on the Winter Service?

So here we are two months later &….

    13th January 2011

Have your name fly with the Vulcan on one of the historic bomb-bay doors

Support the winter service and help keep XH558 flying.

For just £20, the historic bomb-bay doors of XH558, the last flying Vulcan, could swing open to reveal your name as one of the vital supporters commemorated on the Winter Service Plaque. The delta-winged Vulcans once stood on Quick Reaction Alert, their bomb-bays ready to carry British, Yellow Sun hydrogen bombs. Now there is only one left flying, delighting more than two million people at airshows every year and inspiring new generations of engineers and aviators.

“We receive no Government funding and no money from the RAF, so we are tremendously grateful to our many passionate supporters whose continuing donations ensure that we have the funds needed to keep XH558 flying,” says Vulcan to the Sky chief executive Dr Robert Pleming. “So we have decided to commemorate the generosity of our supporters twice a year, with an Annual Winter Service Plaque and an Annual Display Season Plaque, recognising those companies and individuals who have made a significant contribution.”

Each plaque will be mounted in the bomb-bay and will fly with the aircraft for the remainder of her airworthy life. When she retires, they will be displayed at her permanent home. Names can be added up to the end of February, leaving time for the plaque to be manufactured and attached prior to the first flight of the year, currently planned for April.

To add your name to the Winter Service Plaque, visit XH558 Winter Service Plaque and select a donation of £20 or more or set-up a monthly standing order. Anyone who has already donated £20 or more to the winter service (ie since October) will automatically have their name included on the plaque. “The service is very expensive – comfortably into six figures – so do please make a further donation if you can or set-up a standing order, which are the bedrock of keeping her alive,” adds Pleming.
To stay in-touch with XH558, the last flying Vulcan, and find out how to support the aircraft and enjoy a host of supporter benefits, visit Register | Vulcan To The Sky to sign-up for the newsletter. You can also follow XH558 on Facebook at Vulcan xh558 | Facebook

WTF?? I thought the big doom & gloom effort 3 months ago was to fund the Winter Service… are they now saying they haven’t started??

laviticus has an interesting point. With the right to bear arms, and the number of the population that do bear arms, how come no-one present exercised their right to bear arms before Mr. Laughner had killed six and wounded several others?

    Regards,

    kev35

Probably because she’s a democrat & we all know how they feel about guns… & it turns out the nutter in querstion was some left wing wacko which has come as a shock to the lefties who immediatly tried to blame the right…

The guest speaker kind of went to a very controversial area, by saying it was a shame german civilians had to die and we are killing civilians now. I totally see his point, but people were getting upset that he seemed to forget 6 million other civilians that were killed in Germany.

    Who was it?

& BTW, no one forgets the Germans killed 6M jews, but apparently they also killed about the same number of catholics.

Mercury is easy enough to buy… just purchase some vacuum gauges for syncing motorcycle carbs & they come with a small jar of it.

When I was in school we used sulphur to clean up mercury spills….

The case proved the original parts of the car which were disgarded after an accident including the bent chassis, which were collected, repaired and build into a car with a reconditioned original engine from “Old Number One” was not “Old Number One”.

The repaired car with new chassis, new coach built body, and new engine was deemed to be the original. As repair and replacement were part of it’s history!

Simliar issue with regards to the 6 original Shelby Cobra Daytona Coupes… there are now 7 of them…
