I wonder why they have not started to think outside of the box for funding: they can’t use volunteers day to day, well why not change your funding model.
Display the aircraft at Airshows for free, but then have a massive team of volunteers with buckets collecting as the punters leave….or as she is flying.
This is a good business model & I’ll explain why:
Ever go to a strip joint where the girls are tipped while dancing on stage, then see a girl do her act at a pub & walk through the crowd after with a pint pot collecting from every punter/table?
They make about 5-10x as much in the latter scenario.
& yes, I dated a few when I lived in London, roomie worked at Paul Raymonds place so I know what I’m talking about 🙂
B. XH558 is flown to another country – probably quite long distance away – where there is sufficient funding available to keep her flying. XH558 will be lost to the UK but will be kept flying.
Unless Kermit buys it… in which case it will likely never fly again..
& how did they manage to cut 6 people from the budget & yet almost double the wage bill????
Well as I understand it (which means I could be very wrong :p) the £400,000 was the shortfall they had in the budget, and the rest was (or will be) covered by other commercial activities, so I think that if the money is forthcoming now, then there wouldn’t be a need for another funding plea in the New year.
So you’re saying the *end of October* date was just some arbitary date they pulled out of their ass?
the £120k was unsubstantiated rumours just like the outrageous Chief pilots last year.
It was substantiated at the time by documents from VTTS (or whatever it was called at the time), those documents are no longer online oddly enough…
and it appears about 10% of the funds raised appears to go to Phleming as a wage,
That was the case earlier in the project, but I’m not so sure it is the same now. Early on from a budget of 1.2M his wages were 120K. I’m not sure how many years that was the case, but it’s apparently about half that now.
The one thing that bugs me about this latest ploy to raise money:
Is this REALLY the case or is it a plan by the “doom & gloom” agency they employed to raise money?
thin paint applied with an airbrush 🙂
Lanc exhaust…would look a treat with bilt hamber removing corrosion
I’d use glassbead 🙂 see here:

Do TFC not have an actual tug? just the tractor?

I can’t believe I can’t find logos for Hawker & Supermarine 🙁

Found 5 more..

I fear that if the Vulcan does end up grounded or sold abroad that any future project trying to gain public support will suffer from great apathy !!!!
It may have the exact opposite effect if they use the “We won’t do what that clown Pleming did” approach… 😉
I’ve tried, can’t find any 🙁 Looking for Supermarine keeps coming back to Vickers Armstrong.
