Not really just a limited requirement for the tools I possess. In my case DIY stands for destroy it yourself.

But even so, there isn’t any weird size hardware on C130’s, it’s all standard sized stuff.

I would have thought having a fairly basic tool kit would be a major requirement for anyone on the acceptance team?

Of course, it’s entirely possible my view be a tad skewed of what constitutes a *basic tool kit* owing to the fact that I actually have 2 heavy duty lathes in my garage at home. I was just talking to my homeowners insurance carrier yesterday about increasing the coverage of my tools in the garage from $50K to $75K…. My annual premium went up by less than $30.. 🙂

The thing I was always told was that only those too lazy to find the correct size of spanner use an adjustable.

Unless you were there at the time, you wouldn’t believe that when I was working on a C-130 acceptance team, we were issued with adjustable spanners by the RAF – the reason being IIRC was that the Americans could not provide a comprehensive spanner-size list for tool scaling purposes (and there were a lot of in-betweens :eek:).
Needless to say, our brand new aircraft had a few ’rounded corners’.

Surely you have a comprehensive tool kit with all regular sizes covered???

One that doesn’t survive the journey across the Atlantic very well, IMHO.

The old Dean Martin ones could be quite good, but the latest US versions are utter garbage.

Rescued this from the scrap pile at the engine shop yesterday:

24 hours later it’s been dismantled, degreased, plastic media blasted & partially painted. Should have it finished & reassembled by Monday.

A little more recent stores ‘request’ is the cordless extension lead ? Yes sir how long will that be ?

If anyone asks me for a cordless drill I just point them in the direction of an old *eggbeater* manual drill 🙂
