Tesco’s on Commercial Rd (opposite the old hospital next to the tax office) in Pompey used a live 6in naval shell as a door stop for years. One day some matelot from the UXB squad walked in there to do some shopping noticed it. Evacuations were started etc & then some bloke carted it away to detonate someplace else (unfortunately not under the tax office)..

I’m more concerned by “happy slappers” than sad people who post pictures of people dying. Unlike air crashes, those who walk up to complete strangers in the street, then hit and punch them – this with the sole aim of posting footage of their crime on the internet are real scum bags.

We don’t have that problem in the US thanks to widespread ownership of firearms.

I was sent one link concerning these slapper idiots in the UK tho, in which the slapper picks on some girl & then he & his mate have the absolute stuffing knocked out of them by her martial art boyfriend.. Karma is a bitch 🙂

    Nice site.

Notice that he writes on the frontpage, that the URL has changed to:
    http://www.collectair.com/

That might be a better page to save.

Thats a link to the main site, I was posting the link to just part of it..;)

Like a freind said to me who was a aircraft engineer,
You go to Do it all DIY centre, and pick up a normal little Dashboard Lightbulb for 50 pence, (pennys, ) as soon as it has ANY conection with Aircraft, and has a bit of Paper, Add POUNDS to it, and yet to mine ,and his thinking, a light bulb , is a light bulb, is a light bulb,??,

so what i am getting at is ANYTHING aircraft, Seems to hold Very High Prices,

Dropped off a tailwheel & new tire (mounted) for a DC3 a couple of weeks back. The place where it went is a jet charter/maint place.
They asked about the all paper work etc for the assembley… I pointed to a tag attached to it that said “DC3 tailwheel” & said “It’s right here”:D

I would have probably agreed with you, a year or so ago, but I am now of the opinion that the reinactors probably do as much (if not more),than the rest of us to raise public awareness, at these events; the ones I have met recently are total enthusiasts, and my hat is off to them.

I find they tend to get in the way of actual work being done so my reaction would be to tell them eff off 😉 It’s like the “Reno Syndrome” where a handful of people work on a plane all year only to have to deal with the sudden arrival of 25 more “crew muppets” who do sweet FA except get in the way & loose/abuse your tools….

Does anyone out there have contact with the re-enactors at Duxford? The idea is to “fill the gaps” from the 1944 shot to the 2008 shot.
    Help!

I think that part is a REALLY bad idea. Putting 4 hero’s next to a bunch of silly sods in fancy dress is very disrepectful IMO

And remember also that the magazines depend on the income from the advertising to publish. Without the ads cover prices would have needed to rise enormously.
    Moggy

Indeed, the average Sunday paper would cost close to $200 without advertising…
