If you pull up that farm(?) in the middle of the pic on google there’s a rather impressive looking pile of scrap “something” next to one of the buildings.. cars?
If you read the posts of the past you would know by now that we do have a vast army of helpers who are well appreciated for their efforts. They are, however, limited in what they are allowed to do to help and actually working on the aircraft or it’s systems is forbidden.
Why is this? No disrespect meant, but are they a bunch of clueless anoraks who can’t be trusted with anything as dangerous as a sponge/bucket of warm water, dusters/plexus etc?
….Or is this some CAA waffle?
On a related note, mate of mine who lives out a few miles to the West of Edwards AFB has painted a large star & bar on the top of his water tank. Apparently everyone is *buzzing* past to take a look at it, which given the stuff we have around here makes everyday an airshow.
If I lived out where his is I would do the same, however, it appears my house is actually a landmark for turning downwind at Plant 42…
I’d just like to throw in the 14 shades of BRG to add to the confusion..
When we painted the inside of PA908 we used a HM Govt colour standards book from the ’50s. The “RAF Moss Green” (or whatever it was called)looks to be an almost identical match to the colour used by Boeing/Douglas inside the C17 parked on the ramp at Edwrads..
After a study of the photo I can confirm it was taken all but overhead my works location…having identified the chicken sheds that are in the background as those at Monksthorpe…the port wing of the Spitfire is masking the line of the main runway at former RAF Spilsby. The LCC salt dump is just visible near the pitot.
Now….beneath the fluffy white cloud, lower centre, thankfully obscured from view is Me looking excitedly skywards.;)
Meanwhile, just right of the Typhoons left canard mounting….is where I am sat typing this:confused: 😉
Shame my works is not in view…..as we had some lovely stripes in the lawns and the gravel raked just nice:) 😉
