Not to cast nasturshums (eh?) but the black stripes on the back looked a bit wonky, were pics taken before the stripes were completely unmasked?

Would have the steel part looking like new in fairly short order.

We call them ‘runways’ – what do you call them? 😉

Looked more like a bit of peri track than a runway…

& just had another look, it is indeed a runway

    That long funnel shaped thingie:

There’s an almost identical one at the Lockheed facility in Ca at Helendale (between Edwards AFB & Barstow sort of)

As for Foulness, it appears to be littered with landrovers.. 🙂

Back while the filming of MB was going on we were stooging around Norfolk someplace & the landscape appeared to be littered with airfields. We were seemingly never out of sight of at least 2 or 3..

    West Country?
There’s a tunnel that goes into the hilside at Downderry in Cornwall. Huge (green?) doors, big enough to get a train in. The tunnel is at the Eastern end of the village within feet of the main road.
There used to be a Chain Home radar site on the beach there (3 or 4 huge towers). As you come down into the village you round a hairpin bend & the next road on the right has the tunnel entrance… (as far as I remember it’s on the corner of that road, if not you’d be damn close)
Google earth grid ref would be:

    4 21 40.55W

To the west is a camoflaged what looks to be an Il or antonov transport minus wings.

There also some gutted light armoured car in the area. Just search for “tank” & up pops a pic of something resembling a Ferret or whatever those things were called.

& ‘Operation Sonnenblume” puts you in what looks like an orchard in a surburban neighbourhood..

From the video it was a very good gear up landing. Hopefully the damage is minimal and she can return to the skies again this year.

Seeing how close he was to bashing the scoop on that road surface it was a helluva landing, jeeze he must have missed that by inches..

Was having a poke around Libya earlier today & next to some airfiled in the SE of the country was what appears to be a scrap yard. Def some aircraft in it… & then my dang computer locked up..

edit, found it again, look for Al Jawf, look to the East of the airport….

top right corner of the compund appears to be an aircraft against the fence among the otehr junk??

Couple of years back I got a call from a friend in the SanFran area which is about 400 miles North of here…
The gist of the conversation was:
Him: A B17 just flew over my house!
    Me: With a red tail?
Him: How the **** can you see that from there????
