I’m in my slippers now!
Is that “Baldrick” in “Grumpy” ?
😉
Oh no! Not the shag-pile-carpet-tinted-windows-and-Garmin1000-cockpit treatment?
:diablo:
Tom Cruise bought it????? 😀 😀 😀 😀
She will live on….one of our guys worked for TFC in the 80s and sprayed the chequerboard cowl for the first time…. he soooo enjoyed it our T-6 will have a chequerboard cowl too in ‘homage’ I **** you not…..! 🙂
So will one of my ’70 Ford Ranchero’s, but it’s not finished yet. 🙂
Damn, my eyes must be getting bad… “some” of the full timers?? They numbered about 4 back in ’91 & christ knows how many volunteers.

Is there anyone still on the volunteer crew from ’91 & earlier? I don’t reconise a single face there.
This guy who was saying his bit,was moaning that it was an out rage that this national treasure could end up with a wealthy american collector,
I’d had simply told him that Steven Grey could always take it home to Switerland.. 😉
stood next to a very nice chap from Tampa bay in the states , he said that if they charged admission for airshows in the states, that no one would go;
In the US it depends who is organising the show, You pay thru the ass for Reno, but if the show is USN/USAF/USMC etc then as a tax payer you already paid for everything on display so you get if for free as it’s YOUR money thru taxes etc thats paying for it all.
It would be the same as Duxford/OldWarden/Brunters etc charging admission, but anything at an active RAF station or RNAS Yeovilton etc being free admission.
Van Nuys (mostly static) Show is free because thats a city owned airport & as all the LA citizens pay for the upkeep etc we don’t get charged to go there either.
would be almost worth the jail time!
Jail time? who the hell would be in any position to catch you? LOL!! :dev2:
Well, at least until you needed to land for fuel…
Hang on, isn’t there a Victor at Brunters? 😉
and if I had have gone I would probably been subject to Pete Rushen yelling “chocks, drip trays, wing mats!!” at me….. LMFAO!!
I’d have been tempted to top off the tanks & go beat up Duxford….unanounced…
I’m 6500 miles away……
Damn, I wasn’t sure of the last part of the name, I always knew him as Ken or Fitz. I went to Alconbury in ’91 with him, I think Shetland was in the right seat & Avro’s Finest sat behind em. I was in cattle class with the missus & Ernie.
Still got the scar on the noggin from the “pull thru” the next morning. Someone though we were at 11 blades when in fact we were at 12 & as I turned around he decided one more blade & I got smacked in the forehead. That was the day I learned that no matter how badly you are bleeding, do NOT use a rag socked in aeroshell & avgas to plug the hole….
SG’s comment: “I hope you didn’t get blood all over my aircraft!” LOL!!
Assuming that it was at Davis Monthan, just how far away is the nearest beach?…
Adrian
Arizona is prettty much all “beach”, you’l wait a bloody age for the tide to come in tho…
Anyone dived all the hardware that went down at Jutland?
The Hood has been found. There was an article and TV prog on it a few years back.
I know, but they haven’t been down there with submersibles etc taking loads of pics & whatnot
Titanic has been done to death (several times over), so a new project could be more interesting.
If anyone was going to that level of expense then HMS Hood would be a better prospect….
