Now, don’t get me wrong, but if everyone reads the bbc report which was linked earlier in this thread, isn’t that speculation?

Dunno about speculation, but the grammar was bloody appalling:
“Witnesses reported the two seat jet trainer clipping a tree before somersaulting into the ground and going on fire.”

    *Going* on fire????

There was one very important thing learned from the recovery effort of KeeBird:
When you’re running the APU in the **** end do NOT suspend the gas tank directly over it from a coat hangar when taxiing over rough ice……….PHWOOOF….

I traded parts of various aircraft (loan only) to a local bar/roadhouse/aircarft museum for vast quantities of beer. Then it changed hands & the new owner ebay’d a bunch of stuff that belongs to me… & some that theoretically still belongs to the USAF….
One day he’l bump into me around town & have NO idea who I am….

No one believed Ian Cotteril until he dug up something like 52 WWII Harleys in Devon.. still in the crates & on the back of trucks driven into the trenches.. 😉

It is the same as HMS victory still officially on the Navy roll of battle not that i would like to go to war on her

Probably shows up on radar as a forest…. 😉 & have you seen what passes for the Fleet these days???? 😮

I think this is the only country in the world with a navy with 200 year old ships

    USS Constitution?

It’s product awareness, but to a very limited audience.

No, it’s called a “tax write-off”. Why ya think Kermit Weeks buy so many aircraft? His accoutant told him “loose $6million a year”… & Kermit is on record as saying exactly that. Why ya think he based his museum in the middle of Hurricane Alley? If he was interested in perserving the aircaft he would have put his collcetion somewhere helluva lot safer…..
Wish someone was financing my hols with HLF funds so I could swan around France for weeks on end..

It was at a scrapyard outside the base. The USAF wouldn’t let them have a gun fight…even a fake one…near their ac inventory.
I recall seeing cocooned Grumman E-1s either in a clip from this film or a music video.

Tom Petty music video filmed there & another by some talentless & tuneless Yank C&W singer 🙂

& there’s a “Japanese float plane” stuck up a tree in 6 days & 7 nights or whatever that Harrison Ford movie is called.. (along with the Beaver obviously)

An ex-USAF T-38 was in the “Dragnet” film.

That was one of Chuck Thorntons aircraft, also used in HotShots alongside his other toys 🙂

does that mean that in 1946 when the Stern Gang were targetting and killing British troops we would have been justified in turning the might of Bomber Command against Tel-Aviv? just because some members lived there.

According to the Israeli’s own Rules of Engagement: Yes.

Ya just know the IDF ain’t gonna do a “USS Liberty” type stunt on the Illustrious & Bulwark etc..
