It’s located in Lancaster Ca, between Edwards AFB & Plant 42. Apparently there used to be KC97’s operating out of Fox Field here, there may even still be one there at the Fire Bomber Base.
Not sure about the KC’s using Fox tho, it’s not a USAF field. The last 2 birds pulled out of there were a B25 & an A20 that belonged to Hughes, I think Kermit got the A20 (sometime in the last 10 years). Not sure where the B25 went.

This should be good for the up n coming spitfire engineer cos he/she could look at the number of shaded spanners to determine how difficult the job is prior to hand bagging it. :diablo:

    My Porsche story:
Mate of mine with the same bike asked me to come over & bleed his brakes. He owns an exotic car dealership in Santa Monica & has some nice toys. I’m about 2 miles from his house & was about to stop & call for directions when some Porsche twin turbo thing went past the opposite way beeping the horn etc. Next second the car has done a U turn & is right behind me. I’m wonwdering who the heck it is & then noticed my mate driving so I pull over.
He tells me to follow him & promptly takes off like Don Garlits in a Fueler. I jump on the gas & take off after him. So now we have a Kaw1100 hauling tookus after a Porsche something or other down some VERY narrow roads in the local canyons. I almost wad it on one bend & eventually arrive in one piece at his house.
I look over his brake set up & ask for some brake fluid. He tells me he has none & “we” can go get some in the Porsche. I tell him “we” aren’t going anywhere & I’ll wait at the house as I’ve just seen him drive (made Nick Gray look like an little old lady driver). He looks at me & with all seriousness says “Whats the problem? This car has like 8 airbags!”
Yeah, thats makes me a WHOLE lot safer! LMFAO!!!

I stayed while he went to the store…

Hardly a dime a dozen – I was quoted USD 1000 and upwards for a P-51 flight, while on a visit to the USA from Sweden,

I meant apart from the actaul cost of the flight, most US warbird owners are only too happy to take people up for jollies in return for a *donation* (cough) of 100LL etc.
There is an outfit based in Tx that you couldn’t pay me enough to fly with tho…

Luckily, my story about Friends Reunited isn’t quite so bad….!

I discovered that the hottest blonde at my school is now 6x the woman she once was… & has aged like that blonde from Are You Being Served that ended up on EastEnders.. (wendy richards?) 😮
    Luckily I discovered this from a distance of about 6500 miles… 🙂

I’m intrigued to see what contraption they come up with for cylinder jacks.. 🙂

I tend to avoid their manuals, but sometimes buy their tech books out of some morbid curiousity. The welding & autobody books are absolutely dire. My ex wife did teach herself all about Holley 4 barrel carbs from one of their books & I’ve seen her get quite animated about jetting etc at the local dragstrip.

There is a good side to Haynes, take a trip to Sparkford & check out the car museum, the “red room” interesting.

If he wasn’t too fussy about what aircraft he went up in, Warbird flights in the US are a dime a dozen (figuratively). I’ve turned down at least 5 Sea Fury jollies in the past few years & countless P51 & A26 flights. (that stack of chips is getting shorter….)

You guys would freak if you saw one the T38’s at Van Nuys. It’s painted purple with pink pearl so at certain angles in looks BRIGHT metallic pink.
