Bugger, knew the guy for years. He used to drop by the hangar Van Nuys all the time & him & his son had bought a T6 project that I helped drag out of Whiteman 🙁

The third, as Mark says, is Tom Foscue’s ex-FRADU TT.18 WJ574. Also, as posted by David, it possibly hasn’t actually flown for a while as Tom is in the process of selling it on but it is an airworthy airframe (at least up to a month or so back it was). 😎

Is that the one that was based at Van Nuys a few years back?

I heard a story about a U2 pilot cruising at 70,000 ft over the Med, smug in the knowledge that he was in the highest flying aircraft, only to have 2 Lightnings from Cyprus fly over the top of him…..

Kinda like the Canberra PR pilot flying over Libya after the Tripoli bombing raid being a tad surprised to find the unmistakable shape of an SR 71 below him when the pics were developed…

A civil airliner museum would be very interesting, could even go back to the beginning of civil passenger aircraft with Dragon Rapides etc….. ahh i can dream

Visit Mojave airport some time… the place is awash with stored airliners, even some new ones in chromate primer…

Simliar to Feeding Frenzy 🙂 I actually came up with the name for that aircraft. The owner decided on the shark mouth & then asked for suggestions for a name. The *feeding frenzy* name came from pilot Bruce Guberman’s ability to put away vast quantities of food…. (known as “Goose Superman” around Van Nuys….)

And as for an airworthy spitfire or any other aircraft of this era there arnt any flying with original body parts!

I occasionally work on one that still has the original paint on it… :rolleyes:

Their is a company in the UK that insure ground running aircraft but the cost are huge, last time we insured Buccaneer XX894 whilst she was at Kemble, the premium was £1800 per year …

I’ve had higher quotes for motorcycle policies..

Oddly enough as I’m sat here typing this my house just got buzzed by an EC130.. I think they’re on to me… 😮

Well, not quite 100% inaccurate – during the Falklands War an Argie Hercules crew rolled bombs out of the rear door onto some of the British Task Force if I remember correctly!! 🙂

I’ve also seen a video filmed inside a C130 of a Rhodesian Air Force crew destroying mud huts by throwing landmines out the back door…

Hmm.. I’ve got a brand new unused Merlin rod sat on my mantle….. & a bunch of 3350 exhaust valves, some still in cosmoline…

I don’t personally care if I ever take my aircraft to airshows again. Didn’t buy them for that. Actually they can be a pain in the butt….

With Feeding Frenzy we found the easiest way to keep people off the aircraft was placing a clock with a VERY loud tick inside one of the dummy 500lb bombs hanging under the wing next to HVAR rockets… 😉

Just to clarify, that really bad movie was the disappointing sequeal, The Philadelphia Experiment II. I bought it second hand thinking it was No. 1 – the denotation “II” is very well disguised on the front cover. :rolleyes:

Okee doke, now what was the movie I saw a few years back that had loads of P51’s painted in Luftwaffe colours? (one of the advantages of having AMC on cable)
