Tried to get hold of the place yesterday, no luck.
Harry Hector is the guy ya want, he has a warehouse FULL to the rafters of P&W radial stuff right across the street from Burbank Airport.
There is probably on average more than one car crash a day around the world..
Really? Last time it rained here in Los Angeles there were over 500 within 24 hours….
I do recall as a child being taken to the Isle of Wight on a car carrying Hovercraft when my father was a rep and had to go there on business.
Doubtful, there was only passeneger hovercraft between Pompey & the IoW
I used to skive off school & go to the IoW on em, very smooth until ya hit a BIG wave….
I’ve seen the Ford logo on a few Merlins 🙂
Did Casa also build some? or were they just overhauling them?
I’ll phone the place Monday & find out if he still has some.
Do you need one of those tags? I think I may know where some are….
I think I mentioned it on here before:
’89 or ’90 (?) at Duxford, Mark Hanna was in the T33 giving a tuna ride (yanno what they are don’t ya?) & was spoken to after the flight for a “near miss”..
…..The guy who complained about the fly-by was taxiing a Piper Tomahawk across the end of the field. Dunno what all the fuss was about, he missed him by at least 3ft :diablo:
Tim
I am more concerned about the principle of the thing and bandwidth restrictions.
You can unwad your panties now, I deleted the thread I’d linked your pic to.
I actually have an eye on getting a Canadian Hurricane panel created at some point, but that is a distant aspiration for now. Can anyone suggest with whom and where I can get it done properly
Piece of sheet aluminum from the local metal supply place & a collection of hole saw’s & drill bits. It’s surprisingly easy once ya have a drawing/photo/wooden template to work from.
…and not a windbreak or stepladder in sight….:(
I think the word is “anorak” 🙂
Ooops, so it is! 😮
See what I mean about confusing the issue by painting the wrong bloody serial on the side! 😡
PA908 being a fine example….
Roads on what used to be Portsmouth Airfield are named after him & Airspeed etc.
And a P40. 😉
wondered if that was the Hawk….
This was about ’90. There was a car parked out front of the T2 with both doors wide open & a CD of aircraft sounds suddenly blasts out of the sound system. There was the unmistakable sound of a Merlin ripping past from left to right & everyone within 100ft or so of the car panned left to right along the flightline along with the sound looking for the non existant aircraft.
I was stood next to one of the TFC guys & we both looked at each other & cracked up laughing LOL!
I was at Old Warden display a few years ago when a Harrier landed there. They had recently mown the grass ready for the air display, so the beast almost disappeared into a large cloud of disturbed grass clippings as it touched down which were then gently deposited all over the crowd and car park for the next 5 minutes by a very gentle on-crowd wind
I watched one at Duxford about 15 years back remove a 150ft section of grass just in front of the tower when it *almost* did a touch & go. :diablo:
Still got the pics someplace, but no scanner..
