Turns out the vertical RSJ’s were embedded in the concrete & gas-axed off, so will have to have plates welded to the bottom & bolted to a new slab.

The only gliders I’ve manhandled were constructed from paper & flown across classrooms when the teacher wasn’t looking. How many gliders & Moths did Avro produce? 😉

Apparently they were never used as hangars. The doors only open to half-span which is a bit daft if you’re trying to put an aircraft inside.

When we painted PA908 we used an old (1950’s?) book of British standard colors. It had the green for the cockpit & the PR blue etc. We sprayed some aluminum off cuts & I still have them in my big toolbox 25 years later 🙂

Five days to the auction & no bids, it doesn’t look like they’re going any place yet. At least the building is safe inside the Conex & not going to be bulldozed flat.

Would be right at home at East Kirkby…They could use it for their vehicles or as a workshop for aircraft parts etc.

arsebiscuits, I thought as much. However, it appears that HydraTight has an adapter for the Elephant Ears to fit the KC 97 prop hub. ..or could just use straps, but I’ve been spoiled using the ears on P51 props.

Spoke with another 97 bloke today who said they use the “big bloke on a long steel bar” method as they don’t have the torque multiplier to use with the sleeve socket so that’s one less thing to worry about.

So at this point finding a sleeve socket locally appears to be the only fly in the ointment, but we have a few radial shops in the area.

We’re getting there, now have dome dia 10 13/16 or 10.8125 inches for the KC-97. 🙂

Crikey, who stumped up the cash for one of those lasers, or did they just lease it? The great thing is they not only remove paint, but also corrosion. I’ve seen a couple, the cheap one was about $250k. Cheap to operate though, under $5/hr.
