They’ve lost two of them in California, a couple of others were operating out of Camarillo & Pt Mugu about 3 weeks ago.
In related news, some guy popped up on a FB group & asked “If you are looking for any airplane parts comment or private message me.”
I decided to have some fun.
So I asked if he had any Napier Sabers. 2 minutes later he said yes & posted pics of Kermits engine… busted.. lol
Since when did people start considering economic viability when it comes to restoring aircraft?. Ok, I get that a new engine is worth as much as the entire aircraft.. so technically it’s an “economic write-off”. It’s just time & materials 😉
Fuel truck is gonna be busy…..
Aircraft is still laying in the field & there’s already been a damage assessment regarding possible return to flight or the scrap yard? I’m impressed….
I just found a Huey that I’ve been trying to locate for about 6 years or so. Last reported as “on a dump in Rosamond Ca with crash damage”. There were a couple of *characters* involved with this bird & I couldn’t get any info that would confirm if it existed or not. Then a few weeks ago I was driving along a road & spotted it through a gap in a hedge.
Got the phone # of the guy who owns the property & have spoken to him briefly on the phone. Just need to meet up at a convenient time so I can get pics & have a poke about.
I might be being a bit dense, but I still don’t get it. Did the film people decide “we need an aircraft with these markings, just like that one over there (points to aircraft with desired paint scheme)… but not that actual aircraft, so can you paint this one (points to aircraft parked next to the first one) to look like that one? (points at first aircraft again).
Or did the owner of the first aircraft with the correct markings tell the film people to get stuffed so they had to paint another one to look like it?
Aren’t they both flyers?
Any particular reason we have two Hurricanes with the same markings & almost identical paint schemes sitting next to each other in the same hangar? I take it the was intentional & not the aviation version two women showing up at a party in the same dress…?
Cheers chaps 🙂
Incomplete: The doors would be my guess..
Brrr…

Bourn, used to exercise a lurcher there chasing rabbits.

Found Avimo’s one day while I was poking about in a McLaren CanAm car 🙂
