STACKS!!! Another aircraft term that is derived (possibly) from the maritime world! :diablo:

    Sorry, wrong thread. 😮

    LOL! good catch!

    It was Inconel 625
Are you talking about making single Hurricane stubs or the twin siamesed ejector / fishtail type?

    Pete

The latter & now I know which inconel 🙂

If I were planning to make six sets of Merlin exhausts, I probably wouldn’t plan to do much else for the rest of the year. 😮

Can get the flanges cut out with a waterjet so thats the “work of a moment” & once the dies are made the stamping won’t take long. Then it’s just a matter of welding em up on a fixture…. or 2 or 3……
    Fairly straightforward Tiggery pokery 🙂

I think you might find that is a little bit more to it than that; but good look anyway.

I know, I’m just trying to convince myself that it won’t be an exercise in futility 😉

    It’s an abbreviation for ‘Aircraftsman’

    Moggy

Many years ago Johnny Allison was at some airshow with (IIRC) the TFC P40. He was signing something at the Officers mess & merely wrote “a/c Allison”. Some Sgt behind a desk promptly tore into him about “bloody erks” not being allowed to stay at the officers mess etc where upon he reached into his bag & pulled out “The Hat” that went with being an ACM.

That’s what is known as a “career limiting action”:D

Volunteering to do work [ala AirNZ] does not entitle one to a share of ownership or return if an item is subsequently sold . The only way that it could would be for a formal agreement to be signed, sealed and deliverd. The old I said, she said, we all said, has little or no standing at law.

AirNZ should be happy that the public saw it flying. Afterall they lost hundreds of millions of tax payer and shareholder funds through incompetance,

Which brings to mind a recent Canadian Spitfire deal….. 😉

    First post whinger.

“There are two kinds of people in this world — talkers and doers. Talkers talk about what they wish they would do, and doers shut up and do it. But doers also do one other very important thing: they actively avoid spending time with talkers.”

As they seem big on “authencity” I’d only sign up if I got to straf some Luftwaffe field with a P47.. & maybe bomb Berlin a bit with…

    erm……. the Vulcan 😉

Always felt it’s a shame that there don’t appear to be any of the archetypical Vosper-designed 72′ MTBs (as per the Airfix kit) in preservation. Do any still exist as houseboats which seems to be the well trodden path to preservation.

When I was a nipper in the ’60’s there used to be a slew of them in the creeks between Fareham & Southampton…..Which I think is where that restored German E Boat was *discovered*

A company here in California was effectively put out of business when the feds seized all his instruments..

When I lived in Portsmouth it was quite common to see aircraft props that had been dragged out of the oggin sat on the quays awaiting transport to the local scrapyard..

And they only just break even on that price because of the extortion tactics of the Poison Dwarf…..

I shudder to think what they charge for the *privilege* of hosting that race. I know a few years back here in the US that the AMA fee for a Superbike race at your faclity was in the region of $150K.
Local track owner (Willow Springs) decided ******* that* held his own end of season race instead & put the $150K up at prize money….

    (hijack over..)

I think the least they could do is hang the sectioned Sabre they have at Dx on the firewall of the Typhoon…. assuming there is a mount etc?

I’ve seen that plane up close. It looks *smoother* than the genuine article.
