Hi Chippie
Many thanks for the update
C-130 Elevators had DU although I believe that they are being phased out. Most British ac I’ve come across seem to have used common or garden lead
Well done Bruce
I wouldn’t be without my copy, a great resource to share!:D
regards
John
I must have missed something. Where are the Shack’s extra two engines to give it 8??
G’day 😉
IIRC it was only the MR3 (Phase 3?) that had the additional jet engines making 6 if it’s a AEW2 then it surely only has 4
Thanks machtuck
I’ll try them as well
John
Thanks Jim,
I’ll give them a try
regards
John
Thanks for that, I’m after one for my Chipmunk project and it would help if I know what one looks like when I’m searching. I’m a rigger so all things electrical etc are a mystery:rolleyes:

Doesn’t the City of Norwich have a plain vanilla ex-operational Jaguar?
IIRC the Norwich Jag is the ex Coltishall gate guard and is a GR1
Nothing bizarre about Jags:p. As referred to in my RAFM thread, there seems to be precious few ex operational Jags publicly displayed. Cosfords is the FBW example and Duxfords (XX108) was the first production ac but spent all it’s life on development and trials never entering Sqn service. I therefore applaud Manston (even though the link to the station is tenuous)

Hi Bruce
A check of the wonderful MOD stock ident system shows that the Pt No has a NATO Stock No of 1680-99-4542985 (sect ref as you quoted), the manufacturer is shown as Meggitt Aircraft Braking systems but the country user is shown as Singapore if that helps.

Try to get your hands on a copy of a Brown Brothers catalogue, as it has pictures as well as excellent break down of characteristics. Are there any particular items that you’re stuck on?
John
As covered elsewhere the Jags have very little airframe life left and even less wing FI. Unlikely that they’ll be sold on, sad to say the best use for them is as GIA, and when you think of how many JPs, Hunters etc have survived for that very reason, we can only be grateful for the future.
oops just spotted my deliberate mistake:o, checking Demobbed XX733 is no longer IIRC she crashed off the end of Colts runway in the mid 90s, but the doors were definitely on display in the foyer of the Sgts Mess.
The Spotty Jag scheme is too good to lose but IMHO, I don’t see it as being fitting for the Bomber Command hall at Hendon.
At one time there was a rumour that a lot of Jaguars were going to be allocated to ATC Squadrons. Has anyone else heard the same?
I hope so ‘cos our Sqn cdr would be over the moon, she loves Jags!
seriously though it’s the first I’ve heard of it and knowing the MOD as I do I think the days of aircraft being on loan to cadets is over, they want hard cash for them nowadays.
The one-off colour schemes are okay but not really of historical importance in terms of the actual role of the machine. Are there any Jaguar’s with a particularily interesting history from the operational point of view??
nice though the spotty Jag is I think that a more war like scheme would be in keeping. If I had a choice then I’d probably go for an Op Granby desert scheme and out of those aircraft XX733 ‘Pink Spitfire’ would be the one. I know that the original avionics bay doors with the artwork were displayed in the Sgts Mess at Coltishall, I wonder what happened to them?
