In short, (get it LOL), there’ s a lot to make. Casting wise we’re nearly there for the flight deck components, but any look inside the forward fuselage of a Stirling, will tell you that it’s structure is pretty complex, and we have to fabricate the 3 cell structure of the bomb bay, fwd main spar and all of the frames etc going forward. The Coupe (canopy) is a major complex assembly in it’s own right

No I think these were a lost wax casting, with post-machining……
Although others might say all Stirlings were forged on the same production lines as battleships! 😉
Stirlings – Never knowingly under engineered!

It is:eek:
And some more progress; 4 variants of the throttle box Cam supports plus one test piece. More photos when completed
A quick Google reveals that its registered in the US as N65265

And moving forward, Cambridge Precision have been progressing the throttle box cam mounts and rudder pedal pintle. The photos below show the cam mounts in the process of being milled out; as you can see there is a phenomenal amount of waste material although this will be recycled :applause:
The other photo show the new P1 rudder pedal pintle above the existing P2 pintle, they are slightly different lengths due to the extra length being needed on the P1 side to accomodate the bellcrank driving the brake differential valve. This will be left slightly overlength as we’re uncertain on the correct length needed and will adjust the dimension to suit the installed bellcrank.
Great progress guys. Setting up the flaps and slat was one of those jobs that either went right first time or would take ages to sort (or was it just me??:stupid:)
So you got it then??
Hi Dan
Should’ve mentioned before that Bruce (Moderator) might be a good source for instruments

😀
Here’s a picture of just one of the modelled up throttle box cam mounts (4 off of 2 types of which there are LH and RH). As Kev mentioned above, these are being fabricated for us by Cambridge Precision in St Neots

About time too John;)
Work on the investigation on BK710 has been suspended. The next thing to do is for the authorities to take action
to recover the six missing crewmembers. Obviously they refuse to take any.
Let us know if you need more info we can help with.
Cheers
Cees
Thanks Cees and all
We may well ask if we can have loan of some more items from BK710 as we ran out of time to measure some of the other recovered items up. As an aside, it’s my intention to convert the new Italeri Mk I Stirling to a Mk III in BK710s markings as a tribute to the crew. The recovered items have been of so much help to us and having seen your groups display, it’s the least I can do on my part
regards
John
Thanks for posting the update Kev. The Project is now making a lot more progress in areas which up till now have been difficult to resolve and you should start seeing more updates from us as and when we complete items.
Indeed so, announced on the Marshall internal news this week:(
Hi Bob,
Nearly got excited there, we’re after one of the larger D/F loop fairings :apologetic:
John
It would be rude not to say it, how about a Jaguar? In service for 34 years; Cold War Warrior, Op Granby and Balkans conflicts.
