Hi Peter
How do I put a direct link on ?.
Bob T.
Either go to the top header bar where it shows the web address and copy the whole thing or just copy down the number sequence that’s normally somewhere in the middle of the address. You can do the same with links to auction houses as per your other thread…:D. You then just paste it in to your reply
John
And to be precise a Stirling III:D
No worries Peter
If there’s any more info arising please keep me posted
cheers

Hi Peter
It’s not instantly recognisable. Is it painted silver underneath the surface dirt or is it bare metal?
If you can clean any of the remaining dirt off, there might be a Pt No x29xxxx
Hi Peter
Elliot beat me to it. According to teh latest thread on inspection stamps it could well be an inspection stamp, according to our records it stands for Short and Harland Belfast. Have you got any pics of teh part or any other Pt Nos etc?
cheers

Hi Peter
Don’t recognise it, why do you think it could be Stirling related?
cheers
John
Thanks for the update Brian
Hi All,
A very poor show yet again by the penny pinching BBC who would rather keep wasting millions of pounds on unsuccessful Drama/Comedy/and so called stars not to mention all the money wasted in courts defending then loosing and paying out compensations to whom ever!
Whilst I agree that it was a very poor programme, the BBC can and often do make excellent aviation documentaries, the recent one on Eric Brown being a good case in point. A lot depends on who is sub-contracted to produce the programme, I think it’s rare nowadays that the Beeb makes any of its own documentaries.
john
Thanks for that, I’m sure he would have been.
John
That’s great thanks, much appreciated
John
Hi Brian
Would be interested to see what you get for reference purposes as parts may be useful to us to measure up etc for our project. Let me know what Pt nos you find and if they are Stirling I can have a good go at identifying them
regards
John
On Saturday 12th July The Stirling Aircraft Project attended the Godmanchester Families day in memory of the crew of Stirling N3703, which crashed near the town. This was organised by Roger Leivers of the Porch museum. Having not been to one of these for a long while, it was sad that there were no aircrew there but it was great to meet all the relatives. The Squire sports car, once owned by the pilot of the Stirling, S/Ldr Drummond Wilson was on display outside. We took down some of our work for display and did a presentation to the families. There was a flypast by the Lancaster and a visit to a house locally in which everything is 1940’s! We also presented an original piece of metal from the famous Stirling, MacRoberts Reply to Phillippa Kirby, the grand daughter of Sgt. Gould, who was an original crew member of this Stirling.
We raised a total of £252 in donations. The family of S/Ldr Drummond Wison and Sgt. Lammie made considerable individual donations, warranting a special thank you of behalf of The Stirling Aircraft Project.
Some more progress to report on our throttle box rebuild. David Collins has kindly made us patterns for the starter panel assembly which comprises a mounting plate and associated lid. Below are pics of the patterns and CAD models for comparison.

Ritch and Max Blood are also after some cockpit parts.
Looks like it could be Stirling front Turret (FN5), although I’d need to compare it with our one to be sure.
