Hi Cees
Nice find. Whatever you do please keep an eye on that piece as the measurements and profile will be invaluable :eagerness:

At least they’re prepared to acknowledge and commemorate the fact that it was an active airfield. Are there any current memorials at the site that people can visit?
What type aircraft is it Bob? Mk4 is correct for late 30’s / early 40’s. I have a few spare bits.

Hi Bob
The Stirling used the Mk IV, a general schematic of the system is here:

The Project has just acquired an R1124 Beam Approach Receiver to go along with the Junction Box shown above. This has come all the way from New Zealand and we must extend our thanks to Gp Capt Richardson RAAF who personally couriered it to us :applause:

Thanks for that last pic Adrian, saw it just in time to correctly place the underwing serials

Thanks Rob, when we’re in a stable location we make a lot of headway, so with any luck you should start seeing some real progress now:cool:
A very quick update. We moved from our temporary building shown above into our hopefully permanent one last weekend, which was the hottest day in the UK so far this year. Fortunately we were assisted by a forklift which made light work of the heavy guillotine and metal folder plus all the heavy items such as u/c legs etc. We still have a lot of sorting out to do as everything will need a good clean before being put back onto our racking. However, we now have plenty of space and everything should now have it’s own proper place which will make finding things again so much easier
More updates soon when we’re sorted
Thanks T-21, that’s what I’ve gone with and painted it tonight
Thanks all, I’d seen the previous photos before but I think it’s the last one that clinches it. Red wing tips and grey tailplanes:D

Possibly, although to be honest we’ve got a fair selection of u/c components, probably enough to build a complete assembly at some stage

There’s two Gazelles pictured as well !
XZ375 which has been seen with ‘Mutoid’ before and one of the ex St Mary Bourne scrapyard examples which is now the ‘head’ of the Grasshopper sculpture.
.
Twas that not a Jag????

Hi Scott
That would be great thanks 😀 I don’t think we have one of those and anything that can help us recreate the fwd fuselage is very much appreciated.
I’ll send you a PM with my contact details
cheers
John
I think I’ve got the other part:eagerness:
It looks like a retainer for the ballast weights and is seen on the LH side of the bomb aimers compartment in the photo below
