Glad to see measurments of my flight deck structure are helping to assemble the Projects flightdeck…any news on my castings ?
Thanks to you and Cebro giving us access to useful relics and Peters’ drawing endeavours the flight deck is coming along really well.

It may seem that we’ve been quiet as we’ve not posted in a while, but in fact work has been progressing at quite a fast rate although you might not know it looking at the pictures.
As with most things, you need to get the correct info to prgress and thanks to CeBro we were given a piece of wreckage which had just the info required. This allowed us to correctly map out the seat, controls and frame mounting positions on the longitudinal floor beams.
The upshot of this is that the first bits of real fuselage structure are in the process of being assembled with the transverse floor beams at Frames 4 and 5 being located and the 1st pilots seat beams drilled and temporarily assembled to them. As you can see from the pictures the control column is now drilled and assembled to the floor beam which will allow us to commence work on the 2nd pilots assembly ensuring that they are parallel to each other.
Enjoy….
confirmed, definitely yellow
Blimey Cees, it looks fantastic.

XV177 should keep going to the middle of next year but watch this space……
Ooops got me explanation wrong, but you know what I mean:o
AID stands for Aircraft Inspection Department, basically the Ministry quality inspectors. the part would be stamped as being approved for use.
Was it four 0.303’s in an FN4? That should stop anyone in their tracks!
