EF311 looks to be the only option as far as we know and as you say, it’s probably too far gone anyway:(
If anyone has any Hornet or Sea Hornet and Stirling parts that they are using as a door stop and are in need of a good home, we would be greatful if you would bring them along.
I have a joint display with John Lathwell for the Hornet and Stirling aircraft projects.
Thanks to David for listing our joint requirements (Stirling and Hornet). Just to add that a Chipmunk windscreen and/or control column would be most appreciated too 😉

Best of luck with that Paul, with any luck it’ll blossom into something much larger

Question for Mr C, .. Did the Hornet F.1 have wooden or metal Prop’s ??
Metal props. Concurred by Mr.C.
In line with Cees’ request for rapid Visual progress, we’ve been making a fair bit of progress in the last few weeks. The 2nd Pilot’s control column is together now although not finally assembled (split-pinned etc), It’s quite staggering just how many separate parts are required per column and i will tot them up before it all goes together finally. I lost count at 150+ parts the other day:eek:
Anyway with a mad rush of blood to the head, we slave fitted the seat structure, control column and rudder pedal plinth to the longitudinal floor beams. the next step is make a jig to ensure the floor beams are kept square, then the various components can be assembled in their correct locations.
I got so much to clean up , well, a bag full, and to be honest, most of it is very corroded, but it is hornet, and nothing will be thrown, incase it is of use to someone 🙂
I’m sure that David Collins will be more than happy to rummage through the recovered items 😉
Some more components that have been cast to be added to the pile of parts for the seat/control column/rudder pedal assembly. Some extras have been made to assist Hindenburg with the restoration of his control column etc. Will be glad to get the columns and seats etc out of the way as they’re extraordinarily complex, but they’ll be a fantastic milestone to reach.

Hi Matt
Did you get my PM re APs?
John
If the pilot was pretty much unscathed then it was a good landing!:diablo:
I can confirm that Fenland are still very much going as we’re about to put some Stirling u/c items on loan to them;)
John
According to Air Ministry’s good book, the front glass (5c/1516) is fitted to landing lamp Type J (5c/1515)which is/was fitted to Lancasters amongst other types…..
