About the cost of fuel and it influence on the overall flight cost, 1000 lts (800-900ks) of fuel are equivalent to 700-1000 USD, i serioulsy have some doubts about your 30000 euros/h, probably are euros per flight, but still i doubt it

hmm lets say a fighter can take just over 4 metric tonnes, (AVTUR weighs about 0.81KG/Litre) so 4.1/0.81 = ~5000 Litres and lets say AVTUR costs £0.25 a litre(the forces aren’t going to pay commercial price and if it’s $50 a barrel then it works out at £0.21 a litre but we’ll call it £0.25) thats £1250 to fill-er-up

    so fuel cost is negligable

http://www.rafmuseumphotos.com/pictures_639870/detail.html huge copyright watermarks on the picutres though. theres a few Mk.1s on there and IIRC XM135 at Duxford is a mk1 but obviously you wont see that in the air

Certainly not! It’s an improved Typhoon. It has to be called Tempest. :p Next one in the series.

Weeelllll . . . you could call it the Fury, at a pinch, since it’s a very improved Typhoon. And that is perfect for a carrier version, of course. 😉

    Definitely

Hawker Tornado –> Typhoon –> Tempest

makes perfect sense to me. afterwards we can look at Vampire–>Venom–>Vixen

edit: actually cancel the Tempest and work directly on Venom and Vixen… maybe export sucess is based on the name xD

Sorry, to my UK Friends. Yet, I have lost all respect for the RAF Leadership….

We were many years ahead of you with that descision, theres no reason to feel sorry for it!

PS: it’s realisation that you are feeling not guilt

The second crewman might be forgiven for thinking his lack of a viable exit was an even bigger drawback, but setting that aside, it was a very good all-weather fighter for the time, & a surprisingly good dogfighter. IMO, one of two glaring examples of RAF refusal to buy Navy costing the UK both money & military effectiveness, the Buccaneer being the other. The RAF should have scrapped the Javelin early on, & bought the Sea Vixen, & given up the dream of the lovely but impossibly costly TSR.2, & spent the development money on getting the best out of the Buccaneer. Imagine – a Buccaneer with avionics equivalent to the TSR.2, & all the other goodies (more weapons integrated, multiple racks, etc.) that were never financed.

correct me if i’m wrong but IIRC SuperBucc was at least on the drawing board..

It is the lack of gritters which made your journey 2 hrs, not the lack of driving skills.

i think it was a combination thereof, the lack of preparation was criminal but i still stand by what i said..

hmm i think 98% if not more of all drivers need to learn how to drive in the snow, Newcastle we had about an inch of snow, no more which in all ammounted to a slightly damp road by 9, and everyone was curb crawling. my 30 minute trip to the airport took me over 2 hours..

So true. But I think we all know who is right here.
What I suggest is only a modern version of the Electric Chair.

one with nice blue flashing LEDs and a magazine rack i think would be modern enough?

just a joke, Nitrogen asphyxiation should be method behind the the death penalty by now
