The Willis & Hollis book was my source of information as well (what a useful publication, though somewhat superceded by the ‘net these days). As Ascot was the nearest railway station, the town name may have attached itself as a sort of ‘official’ unofficial name ?

I remember visiting Panshangar in January, 1962 and there was a Viking there parked over the far side. I understand it was owned by TD Keegan.

G-AHPB, to Autair at Luton in 1963, now in a Swiss museum as D-BABY.
Slightly off topic, some info in this article on Keegan’s North Stars:-

Are you sure you’re not looking for RAF Winkfield, situated a couple of miles to the N. of Ascot town ? Open from ’41 to ’45, training ground. Have you tried the Airfield Information Exchange website ? (although it seems to be having problems at this moment in time ?).

If it had not been for the sad news about Leslie Nielson recently then your title may not have…but as it is…

A fondly remembered gag involving the delicious Priscilla Presley, if I remember correctly, Beejay.

Actually guys, I think there are six in the middle stack plus one at front left and three at the back – second right at rear I agree is probably a Cessna – which makes ten of DHC’s finest.

O.K. how about location then, and where are most of the flights heading ? If it helps, it’s a well-trodden tourist stop frequented by another mode of transport.

All this time they have been engaged and today is chosen to announce it.
Some people may think it has been announced today to distract us from something more important
