I have 5 mainstream channels and 80+ Freeview Channels. Don’t have enough time to view all I want on those, even recording one and watching the other, so am certainly not going to pay for yet more Sky channels after just paying my £145 BBCTV licence fee!

Why do people subscribe to film channels?
You can buy most films for a few quid. Dambusters, 12 Oclock High. Got both for about £3 each. In fact I paid a tenner for Cruel Sea, Dambusters, Ice Cold and (one other which escapes me) in a box set. You can then watch at your leisure. Even new films go for a fiver in Tesco’s.

This is one of those “outraged of Twickenham” news items for a slow news day. I guess some random figure will be plucked from the air telling us how many millions it’s cost the tax payer and how we will have to go without heat this year to compensate.

So, the Fire Brigade turn up for whatever reason. Some old dear asks if they can rescue the `poor old` squirrel and matey, gets a ladder across and lets the critter escape. Probably took all of 5 minutes. A very human and humane thing to do.

The question is how far up the food chain does an animal have to be before it’s life is considered worth saving?

    The Human v Animal Scale
    ————————-
Cockroach – instant reflex to squish
Rat – strong urge to hit with mallet or run away
Squirrel – strange urge to feed with peanuts
Cat – Ahh, have to help the kitty
Dog – My god, irresponsible owner we must bring to justice
Small Child – probably ignored, lets not get involved
Old Grannie – Oh god, not her again
    Argentinian – Barb wire anyone?

Best tanks in game are medium and heavy Russian or German.
I’ll post my best tanks later but favourite for gameplay and credits was Tiger.

For tactics. Look at the map. Fire and manouver. Don’t sit still. Don’t pick on something much bigger than you. Help your team. Do something unexpected. Well, just play rearly.
People that die the most are those with poor spacial awareness and sit still for long periods. Learn the two bush rule!

    Threads.
A BBC drama – documentary shown in 1984.
WW3 breaks out, Sheffield is Nuked and the collapse of civilisation ensues.
Quite good if not a little dated. Very thought provoking. Some nice shots of RAF Phantoms scrambling.

Of course there is one thing the UK did bring to WW2 that was decisive and that the USA could not have overcome, or acheived a victory without. A land base.

Since they have so bravely sponsored Indiana Cundall on his search for the Holy Powdered Bauxite I actually created an account on WoT, but have never yet been actually motivated enough to play it.

    Anyone done so?

I played about 2000 games before I ran into the high tiers when it becomes a `pay` game.
It’s a funny game. Starts out with you not knowing what’s going on but slowly you get the hang of the maps. Learn some tactics and start to get kills. It’s fun up to about level 7. From level 8 onwards you just can’t make any money as a free player and it starts to get a bit samey.
Best tiers for me were 4-5 with the Russian Mediums. 6-7 with the Tiger and IS3 heavies.
You can have some classic games but you have to be patient. To grind enougth points for the Tiger (as a free player) will take you at least 1000 games.
I stopped playing with the IS-3. I sold my Tiger to pay for it, big mistake. The Tiger generated revenue. The IS-3 just leaches it.
When you have played a game for several years however you just run out of energy. Tis a bit addictive though!
