Just out of interest, and not a pilot myself, is that sort of thing legal?
It’s a bit like driving backwards down a sideroad and doing a handbrake turn into a parking space. Although, come to think of it I’m not sure that would be illegal either? Mad yes, illegal err, not sure?

I think banning guns is a knee jerk reaction and one that is never going to happen, or could happen in the US. How would you police it. Would take hundreds of years to rid the country of all it’s guns. That’s not to say guns shouldn’t be banned, I just don’t think it will happen.

What is more sinister is that a democratic country can produce people that are so mentally disturbed they can kill their parents, women and children. It can’t just be the availability of guns that causes this situation. It must be something deeper.

Also this person has been described as evil. That is just a way of passing the blame. “Oh, he was evil that’s why he did it”. Rubbish. Mentally disturbed, brain washed, psychotic, the inevitable product of a failed capitalist society yes. Evil, no such thing.

Don’t think I’ve seen this film, starring Steve McQueen, which is on shortly. Is it worth a couple of hours of my time?

A film good for the actors (Steve McQueen, a very young Michael Crawford) and some okay B17 action. Plot is thin, contrived and like the book, hard going. If you have not seen it worth a watch but not as good as 12 Oclock High.

The Sand Pebbles is a good McQueen film and one of my favourites especially for it’s unusual topic.

I like the three aircraft suspended from the roof of IWM Lambeth. They have a lot more impact when you walk in, look up and see those aircraft. It is a little surreal when you meet the Spitfire nose to nose from the balcony. Makes the aircraft look a lot more natural and in their element. You get a better view and there is no need for a barrier.

Wow, what’s the engine. Certainly sounded like a Mustang to me.

Apart from the Spitfire and Hurricane is the Wildcat the first Warbird Fighter (ww2) the collection has owned or operated from Old Warden?
While nice the Wildcat seems an unusual aircraft to add to the collection.

To put all this in perspective just remember that the entire world economy is based on the fact that gold is shiney.

So, which one (Spitfire or 109) is the easiest, and which one is the most fun to rebuild?

My Grandfather was gassed in WW1 and evacuated to the UK.
My Father served on HMS Anson during WW2. He was a GRUE operator which is somthing to do with predicted aiming of the ships guns. Where he moved his gadjet the ships guns followed.
My Uncles served in various places during WW2 notably Africa and Burma.

What I mean is why does what appear to be a modern passenger ship suddenly, and it would appear without warning, suddenly get tossed around like that. Freak wave perhaps? Surely if a ship was heading into bad weather it would have stowed all the loose stuff?
