These pilots pull lots of G’s during their display so very unlucky to happen at that moment.

So it was a P51 Mustang then? Sorry but not totally sure who flys what these days 🙂
Would make sense as the Merlin is a very distinctive sound I don’t often mistake.
Only caught a glimpse as it entered the pattern so could be mistaken about the tail but it did have some yellow.
You could always make your own temporary plate.
As long as it’s the required size, font, spacing it should be legal.
Mind you with the amount of dodgy custom plates around I doubt the old bill care.
