When I clicked the Membership button on the site I got a `Malware attack site` warning from AVG.
I have reported this to the Sally B team however you might like to do the same. Not suggesting anything bad with the site. More likely a coding issue. But if this puts people off joining it is significant.

Could this also be why a certain Lanc in Lincolnshire is fast gathering pace towards airworthyness?

    Regards;
    Steve

Could this also explain why JJ has no Mid Upper Turret?
I only hope they improve the black and white mosquito film of the drops. It always annoys me in the original when that dark black blob falls from the light grey mossie!

Looks like the turret is faired to the nose so can’t turn. Probably explains why it looks wrong. I guess it won’t matter as these will be used for distant shots. What will they use for close ups. Are they planning on using a real lancaster?

Won’t she need more than 4 airworthy engines? A spare in case she goes tech away from home?

Malcolm has recently listed an interesting colour video of a typical Lancaster bombing raid which includes master bomber references:

That’s an amazing film. Particularly interesting that the engine change seems very `matter of fact`. Watch as the engine swings between the ground crew. I bet that crane driver has done that a few times.

Is the film available to buy?

    Darmstadt:

An attack on the night of 25/26 August 1944 by No. 5 Group RAF was a failure. The Master Bomber had to return to base and his deputies were shot down en route. The pathfinder “Illuminating Force” flares were dropped too far to the west. As a result, most of the Main Force did not bomb at all, with a number diverting to bomb Russelsheim instead. 95 buildings were hit in Darmstadt and 8 people were killed by the scattered bombs which did hit the town.

This from Wiki – I haven’t the time right now to cross-check it

    Moggy

Interesting. So if the Master Bombers are destroyed the bombing mission is effectively defeated.

If MAPS usual high standard has been maintained the Defiant will have been returned to as near original condition as possible. I know that they were making replica 303 Brownings. The turret even had a working gun sight!
    mmitch.

Does that mean the original aircraft had fake guns?
Have to admit that I never noticed!

If you have time to nit pick a film then it’s probably a boring film anyway. Cockleshell heroes is just a not very well written, boring film.
If I had to pick my favorite war film then it would be a choice between the Cruel Sea or Sea of Sand. For some reason they both seem more realistic than the rest and don’t have any annoying 1950’s era special effects.

Films like Battle of the Bulge, Bridge too far, Battle of Britain, Dambusters etc. were good when you were a kid, still have some good bits in them and defintely watchable. But overall they are boring and littered with mistakes, while Dambusters is just plain wrong!. Not to mention some pretty painful special effects and script lines.

However I still prefer an old warfilm to the tripe being released today. Red Tails is so very painful I actually turned it off before the end. The Laurence Fishburn version being much, much better.

The problem with making a film, or TV series about aerial combat is that it is ultimately a very boring thing.
What you need is a good story to go with it. Dambusters works because the story is pretty engrossing regardless of the action.
Battle of Britain. 16 episodes of a lot of stressed tired pilots waiting around all day then scrambling for 10 minutes of combat where a few get killed.

Scientists have managed to decode the remaining portion of the Myan tablet. The tablet now reads
