Why are .303 (or any) fired aircraft cartridges so rare?
You would think millions were ejected all over Europe!

Interesting that of the 131 vessels registered at Grimsby only 43 are based at Grimsby, so my original count on Google Earth shows that only 12 were not in port.

Thanks for the link Twin Otter 🙂

Getting this thread sort of back on track this is the Sperm Whale that was washed up on Skegness beach in March this year

    DEAD SPERM WHALE

Are you sure it’s a Whale.
Could be one of the locals bathing?

Is Old Fred in its wartime paintwork? The Halifax looks restored, but the Lanc not so…….

I believe Old Fred has been repainted. I remember as a kid the bomb markings were very worn where all the kids (including me) had counted them with their fingers. At some point a perspex screen was mounted infront of the markings. Then she was repainted.

BTW what happened to the rest of `Old fred` ?

The Comet is sadly not flying. But aside from all these `old bi-planes` what about the jets? Are they still flying? Jets are good.
I like bi-planes too, but a Hunter or two will be fun.

Thanks for the replies. This is turning out to be an interesting topic.
Any pictures survive of the Silver and Blue example? Would make a nice model.
