I don’t rearly get this land speed thing.
They are not cars. Cars have an engine which provides power to the wheels.
These are just aircraft with no wings, one of them quite literally!

Isn’t the price of these type of aircraft immaterial?
If you are serious about operating a warbird fighter then you have to have some serious money anyway. What are we talking to operate per year? £300k??
The fact it hasn’t sold means no one wants it or there is not market, not that it’s too expensive IMHO.

It’s a great film but hard to tell what’s more wooden. The film set Spitfires or the actors!
The bit that always has me cringing. The dispersal bod who gets up from his telephone and very, very awkwardly leans out of the window and says “Stand down A Flight”. Then by still keeping his back to the camera very, very, VERY jerkily sits back in his chair with all the self conscious charm of a prom night virgin! Or maybe it’s the hammy Mike Caine with the immortal line “The chaps spoil her”. It’s like steel finger nails on a blackboard.

What’s if like at the CAF these days? Haven’t been since 98 unfortunately due to the distance. Was thinking of going next year?

Used to read them as a kid. Stirring stuff and from a `Jerry` too.

Sorry, I thought this was an aviation forum, not a spelling competition.

Was the OP in the correct village?

He does mention somewhere called Bassingbourne, whereas the airfield is most definitely in Bassingbourn.

    Moggy

The place east of Duxford, ish? Is that correct?
BTW I also couldn’t find Madingly even though I have been there once before!
I was wondering if they took all the signs down (for madingly) because of the Olympic Games. Security maybe?

DNA might not survive. I seem to recall a program on tv that mentioned that human remains can be in such a state (of decay) that no DNA can be reliably obtained.

Why are .303 (or any) fired aircraft cartridges so rare?
You would think millions were ejected all over Europe!
