I will rely on your erudition to keep the correct side of good taste on this somewhat delicate subject matter.
Well, I wouldn’t knock it.
Sunday 2nd.
Merlin engine over Yateley about 5:30pm, then the Blades about 6pm.
Anyone confirm what the Merlin was as I didn’t see it?
What’s VHS?
What’s VHS?
Wasn’t the fuel the main problem, being a little on the `volatile` side. Not to mention corrosive.
Did it score any kills and do any of these examples still survive?
There seem to be quite a few still around, at least in the UK.
Nice article in one of the Model Mags regarding the 163 this month including this little gem

I also have a very nice book by Jeffery Ethell called Komet.

Neither does Kermits Sunderland. Must be a good 20 years since it last flew. Would need a fair bit of work to get it airborne again.
If the bomb couldn’t be lifted by a coles crane two questions;
1) How did they move it before?
2) Why didn’t they move it that way again, why bother with the crane?
3) Why didn’t the bomb sink on it’s cradle with all the weight?
These questions lead me to believe this is an urban aviation myth.
Visited Fantasy of Flight in 1998 and enjoyed a very nice day.
Kermit is a very nice person. Large, well tanned and beaming aviation enthusiast with an aircraft stash bigger than mine. Swine!
“and on that bombshell!”
Downloaded it to my new rig via steam.
Gave it a 30 minute dogfight. Pretty much the same as before. Very smooth on my system but all those bugs, like the voice system totally broken and useless. Also the Hurricane has no spirit. Doesn’t sound or feel like a Hurricane (not that I’ve flown one but, you know).
Nope, not for me. I’ll stick to FSX, Duxford and the A2A Spitfire.
What are all the small pillars of smoke?
I thought at first bomb damage but they look too small and dispersed.
Chimneys perhaps?
Meteor over my house 18.19hrs 🙂
I’ve seen the Silver Meteor over Blackwater and Yateley. Wonder why it likes flying in that area?
Video from the BBC:
“About 600 tonnes of unexploded ordnance are discovered in Germany every year. ” – that’s a lot of UXB’s!
Formula 1 cars perform in essentially two dimensions on a track. In the event of them going off in an unintended direction, it’s relatively easy to place barriers and catch fences to protect the public
Not so simple with aeroplanes, is it. Galloping Ghost unfortunately demonstrates this all too well

Yes. But the point I was trying to make was that if you clamp down too much on regs and safety you just end up with a, well a bog standard airshow. Reno IS all about the racing. I’m not saying we should have lots of accidents, just that it is `Reno` that people go and see.
Hands up all those enthisiasts that went to Reno to see the modified Furies, Rare Bare and the P51’s?
Hands up all those enthusiasts who went for the occasional F18 or Harvard display?
