I have eight very large conifers in my garden. I have now also aquired all of Bradley Stokes and surrounding areas Starling population who roost in my trees. This has been going on for three weeks now. There are many hundreds if not into the thousand+ of these birds and the numbers seem to be increasing.
It starts at dusk and they wheel about in circles collecting more and more as they do so. They get lower and lower and finally settle in my trees and churp away until 6-30 or 7-00pm. Now I am an animal and bird lover and the last thing I want to do is deny them safety and shelter over the winter.
But I wish they would empty their bowels somewhere else and not when they come into land!

4-45pm sees me out there with Triplewax Liquid Gold Self Drying Shampoo and a hose. I wash 2 cars and hose them off in ten minutes flat now!
Apparantly the Starlings will start to drift of somewhere else by the end of February so 51 more days of this then!(hopefully)

People come and watch this specticle now. I stand in my porch and watch them getting bombed as well as my cars!

It’s when nature sends it’s Naval Assets in to do some `gardening` on my pond I object to! Must be using upkeeps as the net doesn’t keep them at bay?

Isn’t this more a case of lack of common sense rather than health and safety. If a veteran asks to sit in an aircraft especially a Spitfire I would have thought the answer an automatic yes!

BTW you would have thought the RAF could have russelled up a van to take him to Conningsby?

I was curious just for the numbers as the internet does not give accurate figures.
For example the number of Spitfires seems to range from 44 – 76 ?

I like the old Diamond Lil colour scheme and while I enjoy historic colours it would be nice if some aircraft could be painted in their non standard, civilian, or owners preferred colours on occasion.
Strange but Historic Jets seem to be immune from criticism when it comes to colours. I’ve seen a bright red Mig15, bright yellow L29 and various other colours not to mention Hunters painted like newspapers and sunbursts.
I think it would be great if the BBMF could have a season in civilian or non wartime colour schemes. I don’t think anyone would complain if the Lanc turned up Silver or in Maritime colours accompanied by a Grey / Red Spitfire and Blue / Gold Hurricane.

nice kit – tell me more i’m not familiar with that pattern?

Disruptor pattern scheme similar to these, although i’m not sure if the tractor would carry this scheme. So I may repaint with the more accurate RAF Blue / Grey.

The most important thing about building a model is that it’s `your model` and doesn’t really matter how good or bad. Corgi got me back into modelling but now I only build models. Buying completed examples doesn’t appeal although I have some nice Corgi Lancasters namely S-Sugar and the BBMF Set. They are not as nice to me as this one I built about 10 years ago. My first model in 20 years.

btw I bet Corgi don’t do this one…

Would that have been the pile of scrap that sat outside the TFC hanger for a while in the 90’s? I use the term scrap as it was pretty much `scrap` i.e. busted and twisted, corroded metal.

Modelzone have them for about £100.
Or you could have a go at building the Airfix one for £20.

    This is my one.

I’m going to re-do the trollies and tractor in Brown / Black Disruptor pattern.

Just out of interest what are the stumbling blocks of rebuilding a Mossie?
Is it the lack of a rebuild aircraft to start with or just the lack of skill and experience with wood?
I think it would be great to have one back on the flying list here in the UK. I remember that last one and it was simply one of the best aircraft displays I’ve seen.

Thanks for all the replies and support.
It’s not the fact of being made redundant, it’s the way companies use redundancy as just another management tool.
It used to be we are doing bad, lets make redundancies. Now it’s just the normal state of affairs. People are being recruited as others are being lost.
