Does anyone know if the Manchester was painted in the yellow P prototype paint scheme.

The above link / image suggests it might have been.

Anyone have a colour picture, painting, magazine photo of those colours?

    Hi Al,

thanks for taking the time to post the pictures.
I’ve painted the inside of the Manchester interior green more to show the details than authenticity. If I paint the inside black nothing can be seen.
However it looks like it may have been green all along.

The Duxford Lanc looks green inside at least from the turrets.

I’ll post some pictures when complete.
Don’t think it’s going to be a masterpiece but should look good along side the other Bombers I have.

    Regards,

    H.

    Hi,
    thanks for all the replies.
I was a little sceptical that the venerable old Manchester wouldn’t get some wear and tear (didn’t a few have quite long service lives?).

So I guess I would be okay with silver wear areas. Probably be quite worn anyway as my skill with resin kits is being strained by the Planet Models example. Especially the vac form canopies!

    All the best,

    H.

What’s a shame is that we didn’t keep her until we had a replacement.

I’m not interested in the soul.
Matters not that I am concious of the fact I lived again, or am in fact a different person. Just that I exist again and are concious of that fact (that I am alive).
I still say if it happened once it could or should happen again.
If it’s so improbably it won’t happen again how do you explain it has happened?
Surely it shouldn’t have happened in the first place.

In theory, the molecules that are arranged in such a way that you exist, COULD be dismantled and then re-assembled into exactly the same sequence as they are (true scienticic re-incarnation), but the mathematical odds on that are billions of billions to one.

So the answer then is yes.
What are the odds of those molecules comming together to make each of us.
Must be similar odds to them re-creating each of us.
Might take zillions of years but could happen.

Is there any scientific reasoning, ideas to suggest that, if it (a life) happened once so it could happen again?

Time travel is not possible because if it was I would travel back in time and tell myself how I did it.

Now, get out of that one!

The RAF museum is excellent because despite what they might do with the buildings, layout, lighting etc it still houses some unique aircraft examples such as the Lancaster, Beaufighter, B17, Catalina, Me109 and more.

One thing that surprised me was the closure of the upstairs exhibits (which I read may have been re-opened). Entering the museum and enjoying an hour browsing the exhibits seemed to make it much more of a day out before walking into the aircraft area.

If I could improve the museum it would be to have more models and dioramas. Lets not forget the draw for children (and some adults 🙂 ) of dioramas. Wouldn’t it be great to have an RAF diorama of a WW2 Bomber station. Or perhaps a Vulcan dispersal. Or even a well made model of RAF Hendon (if there was such a thing). What about teaming up with Hannants down the road, local Scouts or modellers to help out.

Some better full scale models would also improve the exhibits. The B17 is great. More of same please.

Parking charges are a but mean. Either the museum is free. Or it’s chargeable. But not a back door way of raising funds. I would rather pay £10 and see that money go to improving the museum.

One other point how about improving some of the signs to the museum. I lived in South London for 40 years and it was always hit and miss finding the museum by car. Seems to be easier from Hampshire off the M3.
