“The Princess Diarist”, by Carrie Fisher.
A book of random mutterings mostly about her and Harrison Ford.
Rantings of a mad women. Utter drivel.

“This year hasn’t started too bright either, Sea Vixen ,Spitfires. “
Are two of those events Accidents or Mechanical Failures ? Yes, yes 🙂 , it all depends on how you classify an accident, but….

“Someone earlier mentioned the horror weekend at Biggin Hill where the P-63 and Vampire crashed. That was the same weekend Martin Sergeant died in PL983 in France.”
iirc The Vampire was a three ship with a Venom and the Sea Vixen. The Venom did a wheels up that same weekend I seem to recall?

I just wanted to ask those that have witnessed an accident. Has it changed your perception, behavior at airshows?
I was always at ease watching a display until I saw the Kingcobra at Biggin Hill. Since then it’s always in the back of my mind what can happen
and it spooks me sometimes especially when aircraft go vertical and they appear overhead.
I can’t help it but it makes me jump a little.

No I mean I was there and saw the Hurricane depart. The Spitfire was still there at 4:30pm with no sign of leaving.
Was the Spitfire due to display at Weston? If so that would indicate it had a problem and was awaiting help.
If not then it was probably just waiting for the Hurricane to return before going home.

I was a very hot day. Maybe the Spitfire had a problem with the heat?

Anyone know why LF363 and the Baby Spitfire landed at White Waltham Saturday afternoon?
The Hurricane departed at 3:20pm but the Spitfire did not. I wondered if the Spitfire had a problem?

Are the wooden props made by a machine or are they all hand built much like a WW1 prop?
Must take a hell of a long time to form and then shape one.

Isn’t this one of those things that happens to Spitfires and Hurricanes on occasion?
I’ve seen quite a few on their belly and nose, both Spitfire and Hurricane over the years.
    Mostly during taxi.
Was the problem erradicated with the later marks? Can’t remember ever seeing a Griffon on it’s belly?

Many, many years ago. I guess I must have been 10’ish. I was travelling home aboard a school bus after having visited the Commenwealth Institure on a School trip in London.
Bored, I looked up and saw what appeared to be a large inflatable pink pig floating overhead.
I didn’t think much more of this until a few years ago I watch a documentary about Pink Floyd and the large pink pig tethered to Battersea Power Station.
Apparently it broke loose and the sharp shooter employed to shoot it down should that happen was at lunch.
Presumably this was the large pink pig I saw?

Forgive me if this is a little left-field but I always thought accidents were a `combine-ation` of different factors?
