Was the spitfire model made of metal and was there a price on it. looks very well made, by the photo. Thanks, also where in Birmingham?
No price. Entirely metal and looked very accurate. All metal and what looked like moving canopy and surfaces.
From memory it was in a small arcade in the center of town. I’ve only been to Birmingham once but if you know the area I’m sure it will be easy to find. It wasn’t out of the way at all.
Love the canopy / windscreen section. What was the asking price?
Rob
Wasn’t priced unfortunately.
If it was a nuke I think Scientists, seismologists and gieger counters around the world would have been going potty.
I don’t think we have the right to pass judgement on what happened during the second world war.
War is war. It’s terrible and people die. I wasn’t there and have no idea what it’s like to live in such times.
If war teaches us one thing it’s that we should prevent war at all cost.
Unfortunately our enemies rarely agree.
Capitalism’s fault?
Lack of clean water, sickness and starvation for all the children of the world would be solved by adopting another economic ideology then? What ideology, and adopted by whom: us, Africa, everybody?
Capitalist successful countries do not want to develop third world countries hence they are still living in the dark ages.
With all our wealth we could develop them but we don’t because they would become competitors.
Greed also plays a part IMHO. Greed from their own capitalist ideals (those in charge I mean).
Those in charge of third world countries seem to do quite well, drive Mercs and Rollers until ousted by some revolt or coo.
My only real concern with the likes of Amazon, for example, is that despite the buyer being in the UK and the item being despatched from the UK, because the on-line ‘transaction’ takes place in Luxembourg (where VAT is lower) all the tax goes to the Luxembourg government!
Totally agree but as a consumer that’s not my concern. The government needs to sort that loop hole out.
What drivers need to consider is that the difference in 40 over 50 or 60 mph in terms of time saved is inconsequential.
How many times have you been passed but fast vehicles on a dual carriage way only to catch them up several miles ahead on a slip or set of lights.
While it may seem like speed makes a difference, because the start and end of our journeys is very much a crawl (or stationary) it makes very little difference.
The trip on my car shows an average speed of 27 mph. I do 250 mile per week at speeds between 50 and 70mph.
Do the math.
I too used to give a direct debit donation to Cancer Research. But when I started to receive letters that said “thanks for your donation but think what could be achieved if you gave 50, 75, 100 pounds. Just fill in the attached direct debit and send it back” I cancelled my subscription. These wern’t letter asking for a few more pounds, but considerable amounts. Talk about milking the golden goose.
I still give to charities but I choose which box to put the money in. I also make donations via their shops.
Last Saturday I spent £12 on a Pooles Flight Guide and Sidewinder Joystick (plus headphones) in a Charity Shop.
The begging ads just turn me off.
Merry Christmas to all of them but in this day and age I feel the governments of this planet just need to sort this stuff out once and for all.
I’m still amazed with all the wealth and technology we have children in Africa are still going blind, or starving, or dying for lack of clean water.
Thar’s not my fault, that’s societies (capitalism’s) fault.

Well it is historic (A long time ago..) 🙂
You could say that the US is actually quite a safe place to live.
After all if everyone has a gun then the death toll is pretty light considering.
Pay the money and take the points. A good driver doesn’t accrue that many anyway.
Only bad drivers benefit from the course.
The amount of miles driven is always used as an excuse, “I drive 40’000 miles a year and it’s inevitable that…”.
In 250’000 miles I’ve had 3 points. 37 in a 30 (Limehouse Link Tunnel).
Just drive slower.
If you keep an aircraft outside is it inevitable that it will be scrapped at some point?
Or can the effects of the elements be kept at bay indefinitely?
To me it always seems inevitable that an external exhibit will one day be chopped up.
All three films in that series grow on you with every watching.

It’s referred to as `The Cornetto Trilogy` :highly_amused:
Films are like books. Never try to tell some one to watch one, they have to find them for themselves.
Will there be an event at Biggin Hill?
Seems a logical place to hold an airshow if only the owners would permit.
Booring lot 🙂
