What are they doing to the Spitfire. Is it a total, ground up restoration or was there something wrong with it?
Must have been under rebuild now for 10 years or so.

If you want a scrap B25 you don’t have to travel to the wilds of Ohio.
    There’s one at Booker.

This must be the only forum where people flame each other with energy co-efficients!

When did the Be’s fly? I had to leave after the Hunter due to tiredness.

    Dino for me.

As an ex-E Type owner I can only suggest don’t go there. They are stunning looking, though a bit spindly now, but they are awful to drive.

On Top Gear they demonstrated that a 10 year old VW Golf could outdrag an E-Type and an Aston DB5.
Sadly beauty doesn’t beat the advance of technology.

Yes, very beautiful. Built at a time when beauty won over practicality.
I still prefer the Dino GT.

Well done the Americans for still using in their Harriers.
    No ski ramp on take-off?

Highly unlikely I would have thought and the Harrier is flying at Farnborough courtesy of the Spanish Navy.

Ahh, ic. Didn’t realise anyone apart from the Americans had any. Isn’t there one in private hands in the US?

I was wondering if they had one already what with there being a Harrier in the flying display at Farnborough.
I thought they were all demobbed?

The BE2 looks a surprisingly graceful (dare I say pretty) aircraft for a WW1 type.

I often wonder the reason for these intercepts.
So the Russians are trying to gauge our response times? Why don’t we just track them and ignore them.
Then they won’t have any data. It’s unlikely they would actually overfly the UK.
During WW2 not all incursions into our airspace were contended. Some where feints and ignored.
These incursions are not even during hostilities.

Now, if we had a few Lightnings that would make an interesting intercept, and keep the Ruskies guessing 🙂

Might help to add the words brutal torture and genocide to repression to get the balance right. And the average civilian being one who did exactly as they were told. As long as you didn’t cross Saddam life wasn’t too bad as long as you were not a Kurd or a Marsh Arab or overtly Shia. Yes not a bad life really!!

Yes, totally agree. But would you rather be killed by a Saddam hit squad of a Nato bomb? We have killed so many civilians and yet still no democracy or stability.
Now it appears the west are pulling out and saying “well you’ll just have to sort it out yourself”. All those that backed the west fear retribution.

Nice to see another Lancaster being looked after. Been to Toronto and Vancouver. Maybe Ontario one day 🙂

To understand Iraq you have to look from the perspective of the civilian. Not the politician or the war lord.
Take Somalia as an example. The reason the Americans lost in Somalia is because they thought that the civilian populace would embrace them as the saviours of democracy.
When in fact the Somalians saw them as the invader, the common enemy.
This is the same as Iraq. We looked at Iraq and saw Saddam brutalizing the population. Where in reality the average civilian was relatively safe.
Tony storms in and now we have anarchy.
    What’s better repression or anarchy?
