Whirlybirds was one of those weird `black n white` shows that used to fill the gaps between the regular `colour` stuff when I was a kid.
Whirlybirds, Flashing Blade, White Horses, Robinson Crusoe and Heidi. At a time when Why Don’t You, The Double Deckers Katweazle and the Banana Splits was on.
Lunch times at home watching Pipkins before going back to school. Oh happy days! (well, not realy as I hated school but you can dream).

One of the things that has deterred my attending Old Warden over the last few years is having the military display coincide with other shows I may attend.
I know the aim is the sharing of exhibits between displays but if I see the Military display coincides with Duxford or Shoreham I tend to miss it.
How about spacing the displays a little?

What happened to the IWM wall mounted mossie with the wing cut off?
Saw it in the TFC hanger a few years ago and then dissapeared.

Isn’t dogfish similar to Rock or Huss?
You tend to find these lying around after the fishing boats come in.
Either unwanted catch or old bait. Seems there is not much call for them commercially unless a nice size.
    Quite common around the UK.

Don’t forget to make the film entertaining. I’m not particularly interested in sitting through two hours of boredom interspersed with Lancasters.
I have enough documentaries on the subject already that fit that bill.

If the Ukraine situation escalates, NATO gets involved, who knows?

Wasn’t there a V1 run up occasionally somewhere? Now that I would like to see!

At first I thought, wow, why destroy such a precious artifact.
Then after a while I thought to myself. Another knackered engine turned into ornaments.
I went to Brooklands this weekend and they have a very nice collection of engines but they remind me of the stuffed parrots in the Natural History Museum.
An engine should be making noise in an aircraft.
We have enough smashed ones to remind us of the war. Fair play, make use of the others.

Why is the dog such a big issue? PJ has made several films about midgets and no one has complained.

Can anyone identify a painting I remember seeing at an airshow from this description.
Nighttime. Mosquito, possibly pathfinder flying low over French or German train station.
There is a black steam engine with German soldiers all running for cover.

Interesting the story about `the night of the intruders`, With 19 Lancs and 25 Ju88’s lost it would seem to have been the night of the interceptor!
Anyone know what the Ju88’s were shot down by? Presumably mosquito’s.

Did Duxford ever find the gunsight from their Meteor?

Seem to recall an illicit trade in F16 engines for use in racing speed boats in the US.

Didn’t Sweden pinch a load of B17’s and convert them into airliners?

The Mallard has what is know as a crest or pom pom. It’s a genetic mutation that has been encouraged through breeding in ornamental ducks.
